I like it! I was a little concerned about those legs being temporary but when you mentioned the metal legs at the end that will be more than enough to support it! Also.. Wouldn't hurt to throw a beautiful bow tie or two into that split!

I hear that. We just used a mending plate instead on the underside. Bowties are cool but take a little more time than I had on this one.

Great show, and one suggestion is could do one episode for what kind of tool you using, and dig down to detail like how is different toll can make different finish or different range of work. And if you can be like make up youtuber, they always list what kind of tool they use in each episode and always detail to model number.

@vandoren156
@vandoren156 6 лет назад
If you use epoxy you might want to finish the underside too to have it all encapsulated, the slab takes and releases moisture a lot less that way. That would be done before setting the slab in place but it would have taken an extra day. There are a lot of oil finishes that are very effective on bar tops, they leave a more natural feeling to the surface but require a bit more maintenance from the homeowner though. Since a slab like that moves with the seasons maybe making it removable could have been a good idea in case it needs to be reworked. I was told that all those trees would have to be destroyed its nice to see they can be used

Couple of natural hard wood finishes that I like may be an option for tops like this, Rubio Monocoat and OSMO Hardwax Oil. I'm not a big fan of epoxy finishes, over time they have some big drawbacks.

Thanks for contributing to the conversation. That is exactly what I was looking for.
@stephenbreazeale8179
@stephenbreazeale8179 6 лет назад
I would have to agree with jpccola, When using a natural edge slab I would prefer a natural looking finish. I have had good success with the Rubio Monocoat as well. It provides a nice satin finish with durability. Rubio was formulated as a floor finish so it is quite durable.

I do have a question about an upcoming project. I have a patio that I will post a picture of that I want to convert into a bathroom. the open area and an outdoor closet with a concrete slab that I think I will have hack hammer out and dig out 2 feet down for the plumbing. I'm just not sure how to attach the subfloor level with the rest of the house and existing crawlspace without damaging the foundation. lol, I have so many questions. I just noticed i can't attach a picture. Google 400 knox ave vine grove ky

@@HomeRenoVisionDIY Bummer, however this video is pretty good as far as an installation process. My project is also a kitchenette style bar top, but will be in an L.
