Nice one Joey. That's a solid looking stand. I do like the side squares and the gray paint came out nicely. It does match the room quite well. I'm also not a fan of when cheaper plywood is stained. Paint, especially dark paint, does a great job at covering up any blemishes in the wood or any chips that may occur. Well done. Time to go watch the filtration video.

I have quite a lot of different pieces of ash wood I saved from when we were flooded in Harvey. I would have never dreamed of a wood aquarium but You just gave me a use for it. I have a butterfly koi I have had for over 3 years now. My dad got her for me after I lost 5 of the 7 gold fish and koi I had. She is about 16 or more inches long and growing. Her name is Baby. She needs a good home to show off how beautiful she is. I love showing her off on my Facebook.

Beautiful job. one little thing - self tapping screws not tapeing. Tap like "tap on the glass" not tape like "tape two things together". To tap a hole is to cut grooves for the screw's threads. Typically for hard materials like metals.

Looks great Joey! How did you get the tank on top of the stand?
@thekingofdiy
@thekingofdiy 9 лет назад
Sean Williams Too much experience moving tanks. Moved it on my own. Started on the floor and pick it up by one end and set it on saw horses. Then lifted the other end up and set it down too. When it came time to go on the stand, i tilted the tank back onto it. Its heavy like most big tanks, but if you use the weight to your advantage and understand proper lifting, then its a breeze.
@irishzx9r

I love watching your build it's inspiring you make it look so simple. Do you have any videos on tips and tricks for cutting all the materials you use on your build? i like your idea with the plywood do you use a circular saw to cut it into the different sizes you need for the build and what size plywood would you recommend for sheeting a stand? keep up the good work and i am looking forward to part 5
@thekingofdiy
@thekingofdiy 9 лет назад
James Feenan I have a few things, but for the most part I havent really put anything good on video. Good idea though. For wrapping a stand, its really up to you. I like to work with 1/2" or bigger for doors. To wrap it, i have done 1/4" and you can tell the difference.
