This is exactly the style of greenhouse I've been thinking about for a year now. All used windows. Watching yours go up so quickly and easily (thanks to the magic of RU-vid!) has inspired me once more to get out there and actively collect used windows! Also, I love your sense of humor and all the fun captions. 😊 (The "emotional table saw music" was happy and mellow, not tense and tragic, so I wasn't worried about an impending accident, thank you very much!) hah yes we are about as far away from California as we could get! All the way over in CT ! It's too bad we are so far we have actually gathered up enough windows to build another greenhouse (for my mother-in-law) who then changed her mind! Hah. Maybe we will just build ourselves a second one!

Great video,,,thanks,,,ON a different note,earrings are different, Seems you could add acoustical fabric on them hollow rings and make it a miniature speaker 🔊 🔊 🎧 system but in the form of earrings ,acoustics would be jamming with minimal THD Total Harmonic Distortion free music and conversations as well as a hearing aid booster phones 🎧 if you will !

When you dug the trench around the bottom, did you fill it with cement? Also the wood under the door, is that touching the ground? Just wondering how the wood holds up with the moisture and whatnot. Great video! I want to do this type of greenhouse

I adore your Window Greenhouse, i think when we move in a few years we may need some help to build one. x I no nothing about how to build this, a Question for you though, when you put the Doors on, what were they connected to underneath, ie did you treat them all for bad weather, as they look like Wooden windows so they do not Rot x

Hey John, Greetings from Down Under in the subtropics. I have been growing my seedlings under the cover of our entertainment area which has light but according to the legginess of my tomato seedlings, not enough. I have been looking for a cheap design and yours looks inspired for four simple reasons. 1. Lots of light. 2. Big Yellow doors (my favorite color). 3. Cheap 4. Some stained glass windows at the front. Cheers!

Loved watching this! Just wondering about the corrugated plastic roof: how do you join the panels? Also, aren't there gaps where those panels meet the wood?

Hey there, the panels can overlap on one or more of the corrugations, and they sell foam or wood fillers that you attach to the strapping of the roof to fill the gaps.

How warm does this stay in the winter? If you were to solar panel and LED light it would it work year round?

In CT it is too cold (and dark) to work all winter. We only use for spring seed starting really.

Hah yeah can only do it in 5 minutes on about 100,000x speed. Though if you just had 5 minutes you could put an old window on top of an existing raised bed and BOOM window greenhouse ! :)

Ugh yes we sure did ! Zoning but not building because it was under buildings size cut off. And then zoning required us to cut the 4x4s we had converted into the ground off at ground level.

So it looks like you're putting pressure treated 4x4 posts directly in the ground without a sill or foundation? How long in terms of years were you planning to have that project last? Interested to build something that will last 30 years or more... What do you think?

Well so after our town zoning department saw us build this, they contacted us and said that we aren't allowed to sink posts into the ground so we ended up needing to cut the 4x4's off at the ground level and setting it up onto blocks (using car jacks) ... not sure if that will make it more or less stable over the long term.

Did you put the base down on top of the rocks? did you use any cement? Looks great.

The 4*4's were originally sunk into cement and then the town came and said that we couldn't do that so we had to cut the 4*4's off at the case and now it's just sitting on the concrete bases in each of the 4 corners

building something very similar but in a lean-to fashion off an existing shed. was wondering if you managed to find a cheap source of those polycarbonate roofing panels. they're so expensive that the roof alone eats up a lot of the savings from building with cheap recycled windows.

This is going to show how little I know about greenhouses. How do you keep the temp where it should be?

unless you have a heater in there you can't keep it an exact temp. The best you can do is to keep it warmer than it is outside, The sun heats it up and then because its enclosed the temp stays warmer than it is outside at night

Did you build frame around old windows first then install or just frame out on structure and use stopper?

This was a 12*12 structure we are in CT and unfortunately we've moved house so can't tell you the temperature today! But as it was gloomy and dreary and rainy all day, it was probably quite cold In there. With no sun to warm it, it does get quite cold
