In this video I'll go over all the little things I do when building a saw that will live in a production environment.
chanding crankseals, Av mounts and fuel lines is a good idea when building a 5 day a week saw.
thanks for watching.

Thanks for the video always helpful , DAD !!!!Those (0) rings , anti vibe mounts and crank seals are all available here in Canada at good prices .There's no point in typing the company that has them because every time I do, my post gets deleted from youtube I suppose? So anyways there you go. Cheers

Thanks for the content Tinman and congratulations on being a father, it's the best! I wanted to say that a maul definitely has it's place in the woodyard for those tough to split wood pieces. As much as I like using a splitting ax, the old maul and some iron wedges come in handy from time To time. I like a 6lb maul

I was just in the process of changing fuel hose on my 266/72 the other day and when you where talking about trimming the length so the filter end moved around easier within the tank. I thought to myself that I had better checked mine. Instead of trimming, try reversing the hose!

They make rubber guards that slide onto the ax handle and do almost the same thing as a wrap, we got some at work and I started throwing them on my wedge banger, splitting maul. And some sledge hammers. They're a real life saver if, like me, your accuracy leave something to be desired

I split all my firewood with heavy axes and mauls. The key to splitting this way is how you buck your logs up. Cut short and spit less. And have a solid base to split on. I do it in my garage on an old crane mat.

Spot on video. Starting to tear down the carcass of an old 266xp. The 272xp I built cut another cord of wood today. Still running it a bit fat on the top end till it fully seats the ring. It was 10°C here today, virtually no wind, today, perfect cutting weather. After I was warmed up I was cutting in a t-shirt. Thanks again Tinman for all your sharing of knowledge. 200 series husky are my absolute favorite. The 55's are in my wheel house as well. Just good reliable saws. TC Mahalo Tinman 🤙🤙🤙

@@tdawg8605 Oh Cool, Thank You. Good to know. Yeah I got.mine (top end kit) from amazon too. I can't remember the brand or vendor, tbh. It was middle of the road priced like that though. I will say, I wasn't very impressed with this one, but I touched it up best I could. I ground my exhaust roof 98 ish if I remember right, & polished it. And dropped my intake floor slightly. The big thing (for me) I did with that saw, was match, & flow the cases. And of course my base gasket delete created a ton of comp. Not trying to write you a book here, sorry. But my big problem with that cylinder kit, was it had like....4-5 Tiny pits in the coating. I don't have ball homes that size. But even so, I kinda doubt I could've gotten 'em out. Today, it got noticeably stronger. It just starts, & runs great though. I don't know what more to say. I'll watch it though. After my first tank, I ran my bore scope in, & so far so good.

I could not agree with u more about the work saw concept, years past I would try and explain the "Total Saw" concept. You have a lathe right? Turn up a few seal drivers. I have for most of the "common" for me saws. 372,390 etc. Even 550's. Looks like that might be something I do for another 670--272 blend build. Details like 1184 on oil pump screws....critical. And one concept I heard u "hint" at then slide right past, is too much sometimes looks cool & runs cool for a while. Stress past the design limits of things like the case/crank and it's just a matter of time before things like bearing pockets get pounded out :) Not a work saw concept. Great video. Who ever gets that saw will be a fortunate person. :) Excellent video!

Any idears where a guy can get an oem 266xp cylinder ? Seems like they aren’t very plentiful - I came across some info that a 670 jonsereds cylinder (which I CAN get) will fit but the cylinder has a nipple vs the block - no big deal to swap but just asking , maybe someone has a secret stash of them and is willing to part for the right coin 🪙

I'm glad to hear you got a bigger carburator on that 266xp, Because I took a carburator off of my 1320K railroad saw that had a 255 and replaced the stock 224 carburator and did an exaust mod on my Tomos Slavaina Yugoslavia 266XP and I was literally laughing today when the saw got into the power band! I have an awesome arborist around my area that dropped off some big Douglas fir logs in my driveway and it's just about the most fun a 55 year old man could have if you ask me! The saw is a hog slayer! The sound my 266XP has says it all! I don't even have to brag about how badass it is! It speaks for itself and boy does it got alot too say! I love the sound of a Husqvarna, So I figured I'd better get a couple more Husqvarna chainsaws and was fortunate enough to introduce two more two my chainsaw collection. I got ahold of a 61 300th anniversary edition and a 1974 L65 and just an exaust mod on the L65 and I am impressed with that thing for a 1974! And I hear nothing but stihl coming from every guy I talk to these days I like to tell them that they're is other brands besides a stihl and I have two Sachs-Dolmar super 120 and my 266XP that I think are just as good if not better than a stihl! 🤩

You can in fact get the o-rings from McMaster-Carr along with the X-rings for the oil pump. The quantities they sell them in however kind of negate the savings. There is a fella I get them from on EBay from Texas, he kits them and sends them in an envelope and sells them super reasonable. ($7 per set I think is what I paid for the last set)

G'day , If you come down under for a visit you may not pick up any tips and if that's the case I'll probably say OZ didn't give anything to the Tinman that he didn't already have 🤔😜anyway back in the early 80's when I first used huskies I can remember how easy they were on the operator compared to the Stihls that were hard on you to run but as it turned out the very thing that made the huskies a pleasure to run in the hardest wood also was its undoing those mounts would flog out in no time. Husky has worked hard to build saws that suite Australian standards and a lot of young blokes are running them now days, I also think Stihl has used similar concepts for their anti vibe on their medium size saws but I'm not certain about that and maybe incorrect 👍🇦🇺.

Whenever I do bearings like this with hand tools and tight fits, I put the female part in the oven on warm, just to expand it ever so slightly. Usually just enough to not mangle the bearing when installing. If all metal bearings I'll put female in the oven and bearing in freezer, and they slide together without a hammer.

I forget your email dude. But I have a couple quick questions for you. I mentioned those o-rings awhile ago and how a guy can get his hands on a pile of them for cheap. Was gonna see if you wanted a bundle sent up to ya. Weather's the same down here in Michigan. Like straight winds, & wet. Friggen cold. Lol, I use forceps for my fuel lines too. I was like "Hey, we're basically the same guy". Cool video, thanks as always. I went thru my 61 last winter and got it running Sweet. Well sir, after it sucked the intake gasket into the crankcase, I obviously had to tear it Back down. And in doing so, discovered my clutch side bearing was toast. I absolutely should've just pushed new ones in when I bought the old saw, but I couldn't be bothered with it. So yeah. It's in a box waiting for me. Got the new bearings in, just need to finish. Donny uses moto seal on the pump side around the o-ring too. I know he's smart doin that, but man it's a mess when ya pull that pump out next time. I dunno, I may just do it again because I'll get irate if I have to tear back into it after all that eh. Smh. Winter's coming, where us guys shimmy out to the ole barn & get out tinkering done. Thank GOD I got that shovelhead job out of my life. What a pile of junk. Nothin but saws. And an evo sportster to finish up. I'm ready.

Maybe the better way to explain mods is to do what mods can be undone first then move on to risking the one way mods like cutting ports. Your notes could save a lot of experimenting . That is why I am here and you are honest to a fault.
