My experience building a skateboard ledge. This is a fairly simple DIY project and a ton of fun to skate!

I build it and it is very sturdy and doesn’t wobble. Grinds well too. It came out to 160 dollars for all the lumber and screws

inspirational, u got a new subscriber in me. u combined your skills as an engineer and skater into 1 vid. just had my 1st session last night after an almost 20 years hiatus and somehow landed my 1st ollie by chance to avoid a pothole- probably 2 inches high 🤣

Good stuff!! Your right diy and skateboarding go hand and hand. I remember back in the day taking my bed frame apart to use the metal angle iron from that hahah!

Thanks for the tip on aluminum. I was going to use the aluminum rails from my old garage door for a rail. Now I know better.

Hey Dan, i'm 52 and skated a ton from 7 to 38 then stopped and just surfed ,i've picked the board up and started again, i]ve had three sessions and am improving fast. I;ve made a box and can grind it already , I want to nose and tail it,I can board slide it both ways, I've got pop shvits both ways, I used to be good at heel flips so i'm going to try those again soon. keep up the videos

Just want to say this is a great channel 👍 I'm 47 and back on the board again, and in the way of building a grindbox and quarter pipe. Your mindset of skating is the same as mine, I hope you keep it up with videos. One question about the angle iron wouldn't it be good to sink it flush with the plywood, then the whells doesn't hang up?

I like how detailed your explanation is for building this ledge. But I would LOVE to see you try build a butter bench! Because I want to build one similar to the ramptech design, which will require some angled cuts. I’ve tried angle iron on concrete, but I am obsessing over building my first butter bench. I don’t have access to 100% recycled plastic lumber in my area, but we have WPC composite lumber, and from my research I came to the conclusion that it will work good enough. Maybe it won’t be as durable, but my plan is to just flip / rotate it or replace it when the time comes. I would like to see you cut curves with a jigsaw too.

Yeah a butter bench would be cool. I believe that Kyro has an old video showing how he made his - hired a welding shop to make the metal frame. What about a layer of nylon on top of a wood ledge?

@@SkateAgain I recently found a better video that describes how he built his butter bench: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3YzdtgC0BLw.html I built mine and it’s pretty good. I understand some people prefer angle iron. It is cheaper & more durable after all. Nylon? Can you please elaborate? Any link to the material?

Love what you’re doing man. I’m 41 and been skating for 30yrs. Skateboarding is a huge part of my success in every area of my life.”Mentally& physically“ Keep up the great videos. I’m actually experimenting with wheels hard to softer. To see which I prefer for driveway skating. Mainly Ledge and flip tricks, with just enough slide when I want. I have rough and smooth concrete in my driveway. I’ll be trying the Ricta Clouds 86a’s next. 🛹
