Ever since my wife discovered I can build vanities, she has been making me build them in our new home. She just stood over my shoulder as I watched you build this one. She liked it so much, she wants me to build it for our guest bathroom! Looks like, I'm off to my workshop:)
Thank you! This comment also made me laugh because right before it (it’s been deleted 🙄) was another comment stating they had to mute me because they hated my voice 🤣
That's a pretty color that your mom chose for the cabinet. You always do such a great job at building the things you feature in your videos. Maybe your mom is at home saying "Look what my baby built?" With a big smile on her face.
Thank you so much! 💕 my parents have at least one project in every room of mine 🤣 I think they love that…I hope so anyway haha. I appreciate you watching and following along and I hope you have a wonderful weekend! 😊
On this week's episode of Woodshop Diaries, Shara quickly throws together a lovely vanity sure to be on everyone ones wishlist! And it'll take her less time to build than it'd take for the paint to dry. Purely epic! ❤
I've seen vanities just like this in fancy hotel bathrooms! Amazing how you turn straightforward building supplies into elegant furniture pieces. I could tell right from the intro that this was going to be a chonky piece... normally you just wrangle stuff around without the help of dollies 💪🏻. Looking forward to the rest of the series... and nice to hear you say at 12:30 that you're excited about it too!
I love chonky builds 🤣 I had to bring in the dolly this time because I’ve done something to my bicep again (it’s a recurring injury) so I’m trying to let it rest as much as I can (which isn’t much 🙈). But I am grateful for wheels when I need them! The next vanity is MUCH different than this one so I’m really looking forward to sharing it! I appreciate you following along and hope you have a great weekend! 🙌😎
Love how that turned out and I'm sure your parents will be thrilled with it!!! I look forward to seeing what you build next! It's great that you made such a beautiful piece by using up scraps too.
Its always interesting the fine details you go to in your builds. I have wanted to do one for our powder room but have hesitated because of the issue with regard to plumbing. The drawer around the plumbing makes so much sense and allows the area above the shelf we have now to be used for some additional storage. Thanks again for the ideas you share and the plans you sell at a very reasonable price
This is a very nice project. A new vanity is on our project list. I will be interested in seeing the other designs. We need one with a cabinet below the sink and drawers to one side. Vanities are now so expensive and often made with particle board. The materials in your design are much better. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! I’m planning to build one like that soon for my parents other bathroom (they get all the good stuff haha). Our current vanities are cheap particle board stuff and I can’t wait to replace them!
@@WoodshopDiaries Thank you for your response. I will be buying the plans for that vanity when they come out. FYI, you put me onto the Kreg accucut and rip cut systems and they have been life savers for me breaking down plywood sheets! I am an old retired engineer and appreciate equipment that works well.
This will be a great series! Your ‘U’ shaped drawer is genius! The drawer works great and makes the space functional. You are the best! This a beautiful vanity and your mom is going to enjoy it! Design! Build! Repeat! lol… please keep on building. Hope you all have a great weekend! I missed Lou & Bub… maybe I need to watch it again! Lol. 😂
Thank you! I can’t wait to share the next design (I made it for my own bathroom and I’m pretty excited about it!). I hole everyone is ready for tons of bathroom vanity builds 🙈😆 Thanks so much for watching and don’t worry-Lou and Bubs are both in the next video-Bubby brought two mice into the shop while building and it was a fiasco with the dog, cat, mouse and me 🤣 I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I truly appreciate you watching!
@@WoodshopDiaries …. Wow! I can’t wait for the next one! Lou and Bubs tangling with mice! lol…. I’ll bet they took care of everything for you!!!! You’re the best!
I am excited about the upcoming vanity builds! You make this look so easy. Great idea to make the U-shaped drawer. Hope we get to see this in your mom's powder room.
So excited to share them! I am glad you’re excited to see them too! My parents are going through some big remodels in their house right now so everything is kind of a mess and a work in progress. Once things are settled, I’ll have to get a picture of it in its final space to share!
Very nice vanity build, Shara! Your parents are very lucky to have you building them a custom piece. Quick question, when you drill picket holes into the side pieces, how far apart do you typically space them? Thanks and keep up the nice work!
Thank you! I think my parents enjoy receiving the builds as much as I love having a place for them to go when they’re finished haha. I don’t typically space my pocket holes out a certain distance. I think the suggested distance is 6” apart, but depending on what I’m building, when using 3/4” plywood, I usually space them further apart than that.
Shara once again you've outdone yourself i just love your projects and keeping to the design theme you go for. better and sturdier than this big box store kits i've always said. I can't wait to see all projects in their final place. Thanks for Sharing
This is such a beautiful vanity. I am have been in the search for a vanity plan that I like and this one is high on the list but the measurement are too big for my space. I would love to modify the measurements to fit into my space but I am very new to woodworking and I don't want to take the chance to mess up this beauty lol.
Shara, now you have the very old gears in my head spinning! Should I rip out the old vanity or two and put in something like this or should I just settle for some new door and drawer fronts. Uhg! It's great to see a compilation of random parts come together into one cohesive unit. Love it. Wishing you a great weekend. Thanks for Sharing!
Excellent build Shara !!😃 I need to go to your shop and get some of your plans :). Spring is here and I am planning to build some cabinets this summer. Have a blessed weekend !!😇
Wonderful piece, love the look and color you chose. Question! my sister in law wants me to build her an island/eat in bar for her kitchen. Any recommendations or plans? Happy Easter!
Hi! I’ve linked the one I use in the video description-it’s a ridgid 12” sliding miter saw. I’ve had it for 5-6 (maybe more…I can’t remember) years now and it’s been a great saw.
Gorgeous build as always Shara! Is your link for the pocket hole jig an affiliate link? I need me one of those little ones. But would still like to support what you do. Also happy Easter to you and the hubby hope you two have a safe and wonderful holiday.
Unless you plan to continuously spray the vanity itself with water, then yes. The water (under normal circumstances) should stay contained to the countertop and sink.
I had a question, when the video started you were dressed for warmth but when it finished you were in a T shirt and jeans, was this built over a long period of time ?
