How to build a small wakeboard tower for your boat
Watch along as I build a small wakeboard tower for our boat. We are putting a 27 inch tower on our 15 foot starcraft aluminum boat. We are putting a small tower on to help with the pop and to catch a little more air. It's a small versatile boat that we are able to do a lot with. Yea it worked great. Really helped getting up and now we get a lot more pop off the wake. I'm pretty sure there was even thicker pipe if a person was going to be doing it with a wider boat for that added strength.

Hey thanks for watching. A lot of people told me I wouldn't be able to wakeboard behind mine but haters will hate. I say the most important part is having it properly mounted to the boat and then you should be fine.

They are a floor flange.

Really nice man, want to make something similar for my boat. U said, the 30 diagonal piece needs to go to the back of the boat for strenght but ended up putting it the other way around. way did you do this?

Appreciate it. I went online and a lot of waketowers have the vertical part towards the back so I went that route. Plus it leaves a little more room in the boat since it's not tall enough to walk under. Hope it works out for you. It's been a great addition for us.

How thick is the aluminum where you mounted the brackets? I have 1978 star craft very similar set up as yours. This would be perfect for me but my aluminum is pretty thin where you have it mounted so was curious.

Mine is right under 1/8 thick. Probably 3/32. Its not too thick. I have a similar bracket underneath for reinforcement. Also be sure to paint the bottom side of the brackets due to the different metals.

Yes because it is steel touching aluminum and will start to rust after 4 or 5 years if I remember correctly.

if you cut some pipe to length and it doesnt have threads do you just thread with force and the pipe wrench? because my boat is a little wider then 4ft and they dont sell 50" length with threats on both sides?

I don't think that would work. The bar going across is 48 inches and I also have a coupler on the ends of it with a threaded piece which ads a little length. You can get those at home depot as well. If you need more length you could always add a coupler to the ends.

I got all the supplies at Home Depot. Got the materials in the plumbing section. You can get galvanised steel pipe or black steel pipe. They have all sorts of lengths of pipe ranging from 6 inches to 72 inches. All the pipes have threads just use thread locker. I went with 1 inch pipe and wouldn't go less than that. All the fittings are next to the pipe in the same section.

I used the same plates that are on top of the gunnels underneath them as well. Along with heavy duty washers and stainless steel hardware.

Ed Hiestand yes I was able to but it was a big pain. After some knuckle busting I was able to get it. Next time i may bring bolts up from the bottom and put nuts on the top.

Vertical bar=24" Angled bar measures 30" Across bar measures 48" Once you put it all together with couplers and tees and attachments to the boat it has overall measurement of 26 inches high with a width of 57 inches. They have all sorts of coupler and different length pieces at the store so you can go to just about any width you want and height. Let me know if you have any more questions.
