This video I discuss ways to survive at sea, be prepared for offshore trips, first aid treatment, be prepared, ocean rescue yourself and survive at sea for 30 days or more. If you fish offshore or ever boat offshore you should always be prepared with an emergency survival bag such as the example and how to I show you here. I recommend all of these products because they are good quality from personal experience. I was in the Military and learned many survival skills while in through various training, including medical training, which I discuss here as well. Medical training such as tourniquet usage is very important to treat wounds in a survival situation. I discuss calling for help using various electronics as well and how they work.

An idea: attach a line and a bar bouy to it in the event of rough weather dealing you the unfortunate cards of Edmund Fitzgerald.

Signal mirror glow sticks cutting board to protect your raft if you clean a fish and as a work surface repair kit clamps Paracord mil surplus floating survival still sunscreen headlamp a small desalination device rain gear bail hat tp you mentioned flares power bank for your cell and rechargeable items knife dive mask dummy cord etc etc. Remember it might be weeks before you're found.

Great video, and good tip on keeping your acr in your pocket. I do the same thing, in case something crazy happens and you end up in the water before you can grab your go bag. They wouldn’t fit in a go bag, but cold water immersion suits are also great survival gear to keep on your boat. Hypothermia is your biggest risk if you get stuck in the water, and it will happen even in relatively warm water. They’re expensive to buy new, but you can find used ones for a reasonable price.

Great idea, I am actually looking for one of those suits used now after you and another person mentioned it. Thanks for the comment and for watching. Subscribe if you haven’t already. I have some good content I am editing currently. Also going offshore tomorrow. Weather looks nice finally ! Tight lines!

Thought this was real good. I did mine today. All I need is the EPIRB. I included a mirror magnifying glass flares glow sticks utility knife tampons for large wounds needle and thread for stitches. That blow up raft Im getting one tomorrow excellent idea! Also added some zip ties extra pair of shorts and a shirt. Found a roll up solar panel too. If this helps just 1 person it was worth it. Get prepared!

Wondering what size the bag you are using is. Looks like they range from 5-40L

I got the 40L. Plenty of room but if you want a lot more water and food go with the 50. Can’t have enough stuff in my opinion. Thanks for the watch and subscribe!

Hey, great video! I’m putting together my ditch bag right now, and I am considering which life raft to go with. I like your idea of having a small affordable raft, but my only concern is how do you blow that thing up quickly in a distress situation. For example, if boat is sinking fast how do you have enough time to blow it up?
@LIVITOutdoors
@LIVITOutdoors Год назад
If I have time before the boat sinks it takes about 5-10 mins. It if not I’ll have my life vest and float in the water and inflate it there. I’m currently researching some sort of co2 cartridge inflater now for quicker results. Thanks for the comment. Be safe out there

most life rafts are automatically inflatable. you just throw them and they expand, the right way up!

@@LIVITOutdoors An actual SOLAS certified liferaft is the most important thing. If you can't stay out of the water in heavy storms, if you can't inflate it automatically within 20-30 seconds, then it won't be a good situation to be in. Most liferafts also have a hydrostatic release, which will automatically release the raft in case the boat sinks to fast for you to act. The SOLAS approved liferafts offer at least 2 independent bouyancy tubes, which means that it will continue to float with the max allowed amount of passengers, even if one of those tubes gets broken.
