How to Build an OE Style Foglight Harness // Project MR2 Turbo 

Sorry guys I don’t have the channel set up yet it’s a work in progress (slow) lol I started my new job and I’m in the middle of one of my double E classes so you probably won’t see anything for a few weeks still 🤓

That was an amazing amount of work to fix a fuse! Most of us would just said, "yeah, I don't need fog lights THAT bad!" I swear, you could build your own car from scratch! Well done lady!

You are amazing. Your OCD is such an asset on this type of job. Most people would "bodge" it together just to get it to work but you take the time to get it as close to OEM as you can. Beautiful. BTW, I call the "tails" that hold the electrical lugs into the connector "barbs" as in fish hook barbs.

It is nice to see someone else who works so hard to make a mod look like it was always there. After doing something like this I want the question from others to always be "what did you do?" That is always satisfying...like an ice cream sandwich, or a really good cup of coffee...or ideally, both :).

Great video, Sarah. I don't consider wanting to do the wiring on your car an OCD thing; rather, it's simply doing it the RIGHT way. And the right way is always the best way to do anything on a car. That's one of many of your redeeming qualities; always doing the right thing! Keep up the great work. You can probably find the plugs and terminals at a salvage yard or maybe even online at a site that specializes in Toyota wiring components.

Sarah, I admire your determination to have the front fog lights as close to OE as you possibly can. If you can fix an MR2 you can fix anything.

In India, the term for figuring out a workaround is called jugaad (the A sound is like a Spanish A, so something like "joo/god"). Well done. You've used jugaad to figure out how to make it look/be like a factory install! Now THAT is a new level of cool.

Loved the video, Sarah. You are quite amazing. Aerospace mechanic or specialist. is what I use to do also. Worked for a company in Redmond Washington. We put together the Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft. That has now just broken thru the Hydrogen wall on the edge of our Universe. Well more like a year ago. It Seemly has entered another Universe so speak. There has not been any communication from 1 or 2 since this happened. No telemetry at all has come back. Anyway, love your videos. Thanks for making these vids.

I love how you show and explain the details of everything you do, and even ask questions if you don't know. There are few people with the skill set to both troubleshoot and problem solve. If man made it we can fix it. Thanks for all the hard work.

Nice job, Nice to see someone do it right. Right now I can't think of the name for that style of plug but they are all listed ,same with terminal ends. You will be able to find them new . If you have trouble finding them let me know and I will find them . The master link that popped off your garage door put some lock tight on it or silicon, on the horse shoe clip.If it is used once they should be replaced. On a motorcycle you would want it in the direction of travel closed end of the horse shoe clip, but this has to work in both directions. So try to get the master clip as close to one end so it never goes around the sprockets.

You sure are resourceful Sarah! Making a autozone universal harness look like oem wiring on the car is really challenging; I agree, your fog light wiring install is really looking great!!! WELL done!

So far I've not seen anything you do that is "OCD". There is a huge difference between attention to detail and doing a job correctly when you can and "OCD". Unless you do things like leaving the house, then going back in to make sure you've turned off the gas hob properly, by turning it on, then turning it off, then leaving, then going back in again to do it all over, until you run out of daylight... You're just thorough. And, in case it isn't obvious, that's a *good* thing. Every time I see you try something and succeed, it makes me smile, and sometimes it even encourages me to actually do something useful as well... Thanks.

Love the factory wiring manuals. Had one for my old 89 Camry back in the day, and I managed to get a factory cruise control system from junkyard cars. I discovered some of the wiring already in place in the car, but other parts of the harness I had to get from the junk yard cars. But it all worked out and I ended up with OEM cruise control in a base model car.

It doesn't matter what your hair looks like, as long as the job gets done with satisfaction and great results. Enjoying your videos Sarah. :)

Funny that this video comes up now, because I'm currently in the process of rewiring my stock Acura fog lights from H3 and converting them to 9006 led projectors. Thankfully I have the stock wiring so less involved than this but very similar, still making my own wiring harnesses lol

Sarah: I am proud of you for going so far as to take apart the fuse block to wire in the foglights the right way. Someone needs to get you the proper depinning tools so you don't break off of the locking tabs on the connectors. Sarah-II: It's nice to see that your school is still teaching digital logic 101 in their engineering program. I took the same class a long time ago and those fundamentals will stick with you throughout your career. Once you get a channel out let the "tall one" give a shout-out to your channel, I will be a subscriber and contributer.

I've done... Attempted similar work as this project. However, patience is not a strength of mine. So I would have used the kit. :-) It's really cool you insist on doing it the right way and that everything looks the way Toyota would do it. I suppose this is why you do what you do and do it very well. And me yeah I'm pretty good at other stuff. I love your channel. ... And my wife does too

You probably need to spray the garage door opener chain with some silicone grease. That should keep other links from breaking. You can get cans of silicon garage door crease from Lowe's or home Depot. You should probably do the hinges too. Good luck

Also I am blown away by the ability to depin the fog light harness and have it PLUG IN to the factory fuse box. Not something I would expect to have work for me 😂 also that's why I have the mile of extra led pod light wiring zip ties into the pocket of my fords bumper because shortening it would end up messing it up for me 😂 (if they came with the wires and connectors it would be so much easier to adapt to length without having it poorly spliced back together 🙃)

My aftermarket replica fogs came with the OEM looking switch harness and relay. EZ PZ (NA install) I'm inspired to install the relay into the fuse box

Props on doing it right. The fusebox terminals and fog light plugs should be pretty easy to find at a junkyard, Toyota was pretty good about keeping that stuff consistent over a multi year run, unlike some manufacturers.

Here's how ya tell I'm an odd duck: I'm a cert'd A&P, currently do tier-3 tech support for a major gaming PC co., can talk your ear off about the organic chemistry of octane and TNT & how those relate to bolt torque and nuclear physics, and your videos have seriously inspired me to put some time into refreshing my own 2008 WRX.... And then I LOL'd at the dreaming of Christian Louboutins - HOW do I know about those?!? XD I don't even know.... (And I LOL'd again to find another aircraft mechanic down the list caught the same thing!! wth...) XD My next add-on: some RalliTek shocks for a 1" lift. But TSW has *you* to thank for the Nurburgring wheels I just fitted last month. (y) & they look amazing. Keep up the... everything!

You can buy those terminals and connectors from Toyota. I just had to do that on a truck I was working on.

Very cleanly done, I do car wiring for a living and I don't get the time to do nice jobs like this for customers most of the time (costs too much, takes too long), and I'm too lazy on my own cars...also most of my stuff gets deleted haha. Good job!
