How to Build the 1953 Chevy Panel Truck Gasser 1:25 Scale Revell Model Kit #85-4189 Review. Copyright 2017 Right On Replicas, LLC. All rights reserved. Instructions courtesy of Revell Corp.
yes sir.....Rattle can for the longest time...then found yall on youtube so 2015 I got a airbrush and it's been my choice since...lol.....thanks for the reviews
This is can be a challenging kit to assemble as it is an earlier Revell release, dating back to a period when their instructions were less than perfect. Still, it can be a terrific way to enjoy a 1/25 adventure in retro gasser racing.👍
Hi Doug thanks for explaining the ups and downs of the kit. I personally love the look of the stock panel trucks. I'm going to use the 54 grill and turn it into a hot rod delivery truck since it comes with a really cool decal. I'm fairly new at building since I've not been building for 48 years. The drive shaft has me a little concerned about cutting it to fit. Thanks again and I'll be watching more before I buy another kit.
Ch, Thanks for the kind words! Don't worry about the chop. Just go slow. Your kit bash plan should turn out pretty nice. Make sure you test fit all the parts together before you grab the glue. BTW - It's always nice to have the Prodigal son return! -Doug
SIR, YES SIR! Awesome, as usual! I do agree, some period Halibrands woulda looked bitchin! Hats off to all of our service men and women, past and present, where ever you may be! Thanks for the tribute, Doug!
Ross, It should, but that's straight six so you may need to lengthen the motor mounts and adjust the length of the driveshaft! PS, please help us reach more modelers by subscribing if you haven't done so already. -Doug
Those '60's era Revell kits were some of the most detailed offerings (at least until MPC came along in mid-'60's) and so were quite the challenge for novice "kid-builders" back when! With doors molded in place, this '53-'54 and its 210 sedan sibling were a tad easier to manage. Unfortunately, these generally good kits - like similar '55-'56-'57 Bel Airs and '57 Nomad wagon all had some issues with scale fidelity and accuracy. Chassis detail was generic and not especially true to prototype and body proportions were off - just not as bad as some Monogram's 1/24 kits. Compared to AMT annuals and even much of "Trophy" series, kits from Revell at least attempted to provide much more detail. So yeah, okay as shelf models, but....Even by today's standards, degree is unusual, and skill level is in the upper range - still not well suited for novice builders!
KM,, I have to agree that some of the older kits were "over engineered" to make it like you were building the real car. All I can says is that subject matter is king and can we really expect Tamiya to issue a '53 Gasser. Probably not! -PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers. -Doug
Thanks DP, but the name of the kit is "''53 Chevy Panel". It's right on the box top. If I tell folks to go buy a '54 Chevy Panel kit - they will get confused, so I'm goin' with that! -Doug
@@RightOnReplicas You are right about that. I just watched another video with the coupe as a Gasser and it had the option of either a '53 or '54 grille.
