This Simple Cold Tub build took me less than an hour to put together, and it has me hooked! I love it, and use it almost every day. It is made of a grizzly cooler, and has filtration and a water chiller to adjust temperature. All in, it cost me less than $1800. Hope you enjoy this video.

The Grizzly 450 is now on sale FYI. The other interesting feature of the 450 is two drains on both ends of the tub, so in theory we don't need to drill a hole. Just use both drains. I'll post more when I'm finished building.

Just bought a grizzly 450 as well. I am curious how your build goes. It would be nice to know what different you do with your setup using the two bottom drain plugs and the types of connections/adapters you use to connect to the drain plugs. Let me know how it goes and your updated parts list. Thanks a bunch man!

too bad the grizzley tub is not for sale anymore. I have yet to find a cooler tht size in germany. and isnt´ 1/4HP a tad on the "weak" side ? others claim that you would need at least 1/2HP. ... but: awesome setup I have to admit

I just had to replace the filter. Only after about a month of usage. I’m wondering two things. What’s the right model filter to use and whether the GPM flow is compatible with the pump. I knew something was wrong when my ozone generator stopped sending bubbles in. Removed the filter and turned back on and wow there was flow. Testing out two different types of filters coming up.

this all seems to be outdated now. they dont carry the grizzly 400 anymore. they dont even show it on the grizzly page. the replacement seems to be the 450 that is 1300 retail. also a 1/4 chiller does not make for a very cold cold plunge.

What are you thoughts on doing this with a Rubbermaid 100 Gallon tub? With the parts list you provided?
@nickrandy1
@nickrandy1 7 месяцев назад
It is definitely doable! Something to consider: The Rubbermade has very little insulation compared to the grizzly. So in order to keep that cool, you may have to run your pump 12+hours aday. I feel like the energy savings might even out over 2 years or so on the cost of the cooler

Why did you choose to drill out your drain bulkhead hole vs using the Grizzly's builtin drain?

Makes it easier to drain, the bulkhead is too low IMO to be the outlet, and standardizes the hole size too

The grizzly 450 has two drain bulkheads on either side. Aside with your opinion of the bulkheads being to low, it would be nice to not have to drill 2 holes…what would be the downsides IYO of doing this approach. (I figured I could install a bypass on one of the tubes to make it easy for draining)

@nickrandy1 and the cooler option is more mobile or I guess lighter empty to move even though I know they are like 90 lbs dry. Cooler not as asthetic though. Chest freezer build looks to be the cheapest but the sealing process is labor intensive and I've heard of people they say their seals failed in the end. I'm torn between the grizzly build and finding a cheap used freezer for 200 bucks and using easy marine sealant and just gambling to see how long it works.
