How to build the best rocket stove from scrap metal off grid use. New design plans. I picked up some scrap metal from the scrap yard and built another awesome rocket stove. The rocket stove is easy to build and I included the measurements / plans that I used. Welding and fabricating is something I enjoy as well as Outdoor cooking. This rocket stove is an easy DIY weekend project that even a beginner can tackle. I used a Prime Weld Cut 60 Plasma cutter but a cutting disk or band saw can do most of what I did. The welder I used was a budget friendly Yes Welder Arc Pro 165 running 6013 and 6011 in 3/32 and some 7018 in 1/8".
I hope you enjoy the video and I will add a link to my previous rocket stove build I did last year.

First cook on this rocket stove and Ribeye came out great using the super hot skillet. I will upload the video on how I cooked the Steak.

Nice build man, at last someone doing this type of video who knows how to use a stick welder.

Thanks 👍I might start another rocket stove this week except I will use plate vs tube. I have a small piece of diamond plate 10g and think it will be perfect.

Nice! Very easy to follow vid, I've seen other folks turn the same build into rocket surgery.

This is the second one I build and like this one better. There is a guy that sells these using 6" square tube for $350, I used $2 worth or scrap but a 4"x4" x 24ft probably cost $150 in today's market enough to make about 5 of these.

You’re welcome 😊There is things that can be changed but I used what ever scrap I had. I have a rocket stove made out of 6" square tubing that I been wanting to try out. I may post a video of it in action soon.

You should! I have made 2 of these using 4" tubing but have seen others use 6 and 8 inch tube.

Thanks 👍...I been working on a small project about 5 to 10 minutes per day so hopefully I finish soon. I also think I will be helping my buddy assemble his 55 Belair which is all in boxes. I get to practice on fixing up a classic car so lets see how that goes.

This worked great and actually used it again today. I do need to improve my filming so might need to buy another camera...My expensive Sony lense melted with plasma cutter sparks so been using my phone. Glad you enjoyed the video.

Awesome build and thanks for the measurements... Need to build one for breakfast at the beach... I see you changed your channel name...👍👍
@cutweldngrind
@cutweldngrind 2 года назад
I been wanting to change the name for a while and finally did. These rocket stoves work good as long as you can feed small twigs in there. I can always use the rocket stove as a boat anchor.

My Buddy in Seguin Tx made one out 6” Square tubing . he can ad few thing to ad to the top . Put on or take off . For cooking . Flat plate for frying or wok . And open Grill cooking Steak. . The flat plate had legs on one end of it .to keep it level

I have noticed more people using 6" tube and will have to check one out. My buddy bought one from Mirando City for about $350 similar to what you mentioned. I think I will have to build a 6" tube version now. There is so many options and one I have seen often is a ash tray / ash door to help clean out.

Great simple build but I have a couple of questions: 1. How did you determine the lengths and steel section size (I appreciate it’s from scrap but there must have been some decided lengths) 2. How does this one compare to the one with the air inlet/ash opening at the rear?
@cutweldngrind
@cutweldngrind Год назад
I actually saw a picture of this one online and just came up with the lengths really. The 2 rocket stoves I built work good and are similar in dimensions. If I were to make changes on this one it would be the top of the chimney, I prefer just 2 sections of steel crossing each other like an X.

Awesome looking rocket stove! What model is the plasma your using in your video to cut the rocket stove?
@cutweldngrind
@cutweldngrind 2 года назад
I'm using a Primeweld Cut60 which I have done cuts on 1 inch mild steel before. The previous plasma cutter was a Cut50dp also from Primeweld.

can you leave slits or something at the bottom of the burn chamber to allow ashes to fallout?

Yes, you can add slits and would work fine.

I want to say I used 1/8" steel / 10 gauge mostly from a local scrap yard.
