Could I use the T8 lighting from my aquarium lol? It is around the same length as a typical size screen.

how do you know how long to expose the photoemulsion to the uv light. you are very specific with your 3min 10 seconds. What happens if you expose it less than 3min n 10 secs or have expose it mre this time. how do you know if you have expose it just right. I would be using a flourescent light how long do i need to expose my screen with photo emulsion.

the Photo emulsion: 10 parts of sericrom n' 1 part of Bicromato. and mark the way that u use the rasero its not correct but u have some idea..see videos from argentina España and mexico to learn the correct way. but greeting nice work, viva la serigrafia! Loco. Eres vienvenido a mi casa a aprender mas.

Photo emulsion is NOT the ink that you use to print your image. Photo emulsion is what you use to create the stencil that you will then use to transfer your image. Basically you just cover your silk screen with photo emulsion and then block out parts of it and expose that to light. The parts that do not get exposed to the light will remain soft while the rest will become hard. You can then wash the screen and you will notice how the soft parts wash away, creating a stencil.

I'm looking to screen skateboards, I can't find anywhere to buy the screens with my logo on them, no one really sells the screens, and no one around me silk screens skateboards, but it would be the best way to get the design on, If i follow your two videos and most likely change the mesh count to work with the design or the wood (if it needs changing) do you think it will work?

you said it will take 5 hours to dry the photo emusion. What happens if you dry it les than five ? or more than 5 hours? Can you make a silk screen with photo emulsion and store it for a week or more for future use.

Nice video bro. But one question when you were getting ready to paint on the screen the screen was pink not green like the emoltion. Did u add something else. I would really like to know what that pink stuff is please lmk.

You can design an image using photoshop or a similar software and then print that directly onto a transparency sheet. You could even draw an image onto the transparency sheet.It just needs to be dark enough so that light does not pass through the parts that you have printed or drawn.
@MarkHinchey1
@MarkHinchey1 12 лет назад
Hi, sorry for the delay. That pink screen was burned using a different brand of emulsion that just happened to be pink. Some emulsions will be different colors. I just used two different screens because the one I started with wouldn't have been dry on the same day that we made the video.

Audio was recorded with the shotgun mic included with the JVC GY-HM100U. We used a boom and a long xlr cable to get as close to the speakers mouth as possible. You can see the shadow of the boom in one shot if you look closely. Thanks for the props!

Different emulsions have different requirements. Your light source also affects the time needed. Just read the directions on your emulsion and experiment.

@MarkHinchey1

Longer storage should be fine although you don't want to go too long. You want to let it dry for at least 5 hours. Maybe even a 24.

Some of the tutorials tell you to coat both sides of the screen with emulsion. Does it make any difference?

where do you buy the stuff that you put on the screen and how long does it take for the paint to dry

We have thought about it but that would mean rebuilding it or building a second press. Maybe in the future...

Yes. It is hard to get a good image though, sometimes. Kinkos can print a better, more solid transparency.
