Im a new parent my baby is five days old and im super nervous on what to do this video gave me much comfort on burping my daughter Im still learning but hopefully it works out
Wh do you need to clap the baby, just gently stroke up and down or massage clockwise. Or rub between belly and back. It take a bit longer but no need to stress the baby by clapping.
In intro baby's hands shouldn't be wide open but together, it's like that in babyhandling practice. Also, there is no need to provide a support for the lower body at example no.1, just hold your baby at her upper torso and a little bit higher on your chest. Also, for babies that aren't sitting on their own position no. 2 is so wrong because it's making a pressure on the pelvis. May some pediatrician or a physio correct me.
Congrats on your little one! 🎊🍾🎉🥳 Every baby is different. Some don’t burp often (my third fell into this category), but it’s important to go through the motions in case your baby needs to burp. If your baby is breast fed, she’s less likely to take in air while feeding reducing her need to burp. If she seems uncomfortable during or after feeding, even after burping, then I’d recommend talking to her pediatrician about potential causes.
Well, first of all when baby new born till ~4 month, when baby hangin on your sholder it' s very bad to let baby sit at your arm, you have to hold gently around his shoilders area with one hand and another can be free or just gently push around his but area. Otherwise by doing that you compressing his spine, and in the future baby may have problems with the back.
Thanks for the info! I would be careful with Earth's Best formula since it has soy and that's not good for a baby's development. The pediatrician we saw in the NICU was strongly against soy in formula because of that. I like By Heart's formula. It's going to be more expensive, but it's for the baby! Fortunately, our baby has plenty of breast milk though.
I was just thinking about this while seeing my sons head shake a tiny bit every time my husband taps him. I was like can that hurt his brain? But he doesn’t burp when I tap soft
Thanks for the question! Patting for about a minute is a good rule of thumb, then, if there’s no burp, take a break for a bit and try again. Pay attention to your baby’s regular rhythms of eating and burping. I have 3 kids; one was extremely gassy and difficult to burp, one was gassy but burped easily, and the other had no trouble with gas, and rarely burped after meals. All were bottle fed. Every baby is different. It takes a little time to learn their tendencies and get into a routine that everyone is happy with, but it’ll come.
You didn't include my husband's favorite and worked every time with our younger son. Position as you did with your second method, drape burp cloth over your hand that is under baby's chin, free hand on baby's back, thumb one ribs, fingertips on ribs on other side and gently apply pressure to make the baby squirm. I wasn't as good with this method because my hands are smaller.
Thanks Julie! I haven’t heard of that method, but encouraging your baby to move is a good way to help him release trapped air. I like to rub my daughter’s back while she’s in the shoulder position to encourage movement. Sixty percent of the time it works every time 😂 (I wonder if anyone will get that reference). Thanks for the comment!
Thanks for the question! Your baby will not necessarily spit up if she doesn’t burp. It depends on how much air she takes in during feeding. Breast feeding leads to less air being ingested than bottle feeding, but every baby is different. My first two kids needed to burp or they were uncomfortable, and they both spit up regularly. However, my third child rarely burped and almost never spit up. All three were primarily bottle fed. Hope this helps!
@@DadGoodOfficial Thank you for your reply. My baby needs to be burp even on breast or bottle feed. If not everything is out. Sometimes Burping can be hard.
What makes you a qualified advice, since in the intro you got your baby's hands wrapped in bubble foil?? Are you a certified pediatrician or just another blogger??

First time dad doing the nightshift, baby's super squirmy so the over the shoulder and knee sit techniques aren't working fir me, il try the football position one
"Dadgood", you look like you're actually a good advertising actor...anything to sell...?... good in acting, but good father...? i'm jokking but your video is really an ad spot.
Thanks for the great question, Julie! If your baby is falling asleep before feeding is complete, use the shoulder hold for burping. If baby wakes while being positioned, she’s most likely to go back to sleep while burping on your shoulder. However, if your baby isn’t having enough to eat before falling asleep, try the lap position to wake her for a few more minutes on the bottle or breast. I hope this helps!
Thanks for this video. I will surely try the third type once. My boy just doesn't like the second type of burping. He becomes sleepy as soon as he is a little full from the feeding and when I try to burp him like the second type he starts to cry and becomes cranky.
