Nah, nowadays’ standards are too low. His style is not a “standard” but a reference point we all wish most people followed. I find calling his style a “standard” as an understatement.
Thank you both, let's make it happen. I believe in authenticity and quality and so I do not change my style, instead I am myself. Of course, if you look at our early videos, you see an improvement now, but I am still the same person. At the end of the day every youtuber attracts a different audience and I have no interest being more flashy or salesy because that's not who I am.

Good video. I'm always careful about how I do up my buttons and I'm shocked by how poorly so many other men attend to this. Having said that, I think many people see these rules and just outdated restrictions and impositions, rather than being in place because of sensible reasons like how a jacket is actually tailored.
Cowboy Hank it if for sure. When you die, no matter how good of person you were or what you did in life, if you didn’t button your suit properly in life, that is all you will be remembered for.
An unsolicited opinion here but I really enjoyed this video. I think it’s a great opportunity for men with little knowledge of classic menswear to get some ground rules down about how to wear their suits if not a little obstinately worded at times regarding some styles looking “off” with little explaination given. Love the work you gentlemen do here and these videos will remain timeless just like the outfits shown in the video. Keep it up! 😁
Only thing I disagree on is not buttoning a single breasted jacket when wearing a vest. I always wear three piece suits and over the last year I began buttoning the jacket while standing and much prefer it that way. The lines are cleaner, the jacket stays in place better and doesn't flap in the wind, as well as keeps me a bit warmer in the cold months, as in the warm months I'd just forego the jacket and vest all together. I only buy 3 button jackets and of course only button the top 2 as you said. I used to really dislike the 1890s style of only buttoning the top button, but now I kind of wish it would return as a trend. Regardless of what you think, it would be a whole lot better than most the current trends we see.

I find this helpful, I still follow these rules rather well. I now make suits and tend to do every button on my waistcoat unless I’m physically active enough to justify it or exceptionally hot. (I have a very different figure to Bertie and cherish the American spirit of inconveniencing the English) I have decided I’m going to design my next waistcoat with a bottom button hole on each side just to bug people.
Thanks a lot. I've never worn a suit (The only time I wore a tux was prom) and I have to go to a formal event. I have always worn my uniform to formal events but I got pressured by my fiancee to get a suit. I got a navy suit with white pinstripes and I have no idea what I'm doing. The video helped
There are practical reasons to never button your lower button, it's not just because it 'looks bad'. It's because if your top/ middle button sits at the waist; i.e., your narrowest point, it provides maximum mobility and comfort.

my uniform has four buttons, singled-breasted, but using just the middle buttons feels strangely uncomfortable. is it acceptable to use the top three and leave the bottom undone?
On two button blazers I’ve often preferred to button only the bottom button to maintain the shirt/tie focal silhouette and to dissuade the appearance of intentionally drawing attention to the crotch.
Designating each button starting from top, center & bottom: Sometimes, Always, Never. When in doubt. Everytime: Sometimes ie. whenever you want (top button), Always (center button),. Never (bottom button). Two buttons? Always & Never. More simply, If you have more than one button, the bottom button is always dead to you.
There are exceptions: paddock jacket (where you must button both buttons) and Norfolk jacket. So, there are exceptions to an endlessly parroted paradigm: sometimes, always, never. On the top of that, I will wear suit jackets the way I like (and I won't care about buttoning etiquette).

It has the button placement just like yours with peaked lapels and gold buttons with an embossed crest. I will be lying on my right side on my sofa with my head propped up with my right arm at one end of my sofa for some of the photos. Should I keep one or both buttons buttoned please? I'm curious. If it is not advised to fasten the bottom buttons of a 2 or 3 button jacket, why is it still there? Also I've always preferred the way a suit feels when all buttons are fastened. Is that just me? I suppose my suit preferences would fit in the 20s or 30s instead of today.

Since the double breasted jacket is always buttoned, is it even practical to wear a vest with it? It seems like the vest would just be obscured if you have 4 or more buttons
I have known how to button since I was 12, or so I thought (was leaving the bottom button on my double breasted unbuttoned). Now I know on my '50s jacket will have to see how it lays with both buttoned, might have been cut for that? Also, why did JFK wear his jackets with both buttons buttoned? Thank you.
Where i live all people says that NEVER button bottom button. With 2 button allways the top one even if u have a vest under. The same goes with three button but the middle one is optional.. sometimes i have seen just the middle button but that rare.
Jay Remi he's said many times that he has a strong preference towards asymmetrical tie knots. He even has an entire video on how to consistently make a dimple in your knot

For some one who is talking about how to look in a suit. You need to tie your tie with a Windsor knot. It is a better looking from the crocket tie you have on.
I went shopping recently (real life and online) and I couldn't find any 3-buttoned suit jacket... I hate 2-buttoned jackets...And I'm not even talking about double-brest jackets....
I don't know, I prefer to keep buttoned up at all times for modesty, Im rather bothered by guys who forget to button up after standing. If I were to guess sitting down while buttoned will move the shoulders of the jacket which I can understand could be bothersome.
