How to bypass a clutch neutral safety switch on a Dodge ram 1500

Just to add... (On the safety switch) The green flat piece on the clip housing that the red clip exposes afterwards needs to be pressed before you can just "pull it out"

Thank you very much for the video i was thinking i had to get a new part it worked for our 2000 dakota sport. i stripped the wires from existing part and wire nut them together. 👍

I like the spade connector idea. Not sure if mine is made like that, but if so, definitely using the spade connectors instead of just two pins. Solves a lot of problems…insulation for one

Could you just cut the wires and use a wire nut to hook the together

i have been having issues with my truck starter working and then not working. new battery, all good connections etc. this could darn well be my problem. i will have to try this trick to see if it's what is causing my problem

Finally!!!! i dont have to do the stupid pedal dance to find the random sweet spot to kick the starter haha. Wish i had looked this up a year ago.

Thank you I was about to take it to the shop in a tow truck and get robbed took me about 10 minutes and I am back on the road

I only needed the part to undo the clip, still had to find out myself, I can understand you had your hands full with the camera but he did not explain that there is a tab on the red clip that needs to be pressed before you can slide it down to expose the green flap tab to get the black connector out

I would still drpress the clutch when starting. Safty first

i have 1999 Dakota sport with a 3,9 CID which had develop t a intermittent starting dying puking back thru the intake .I/E. back fire. which ECM had no codes lol. after process of eliminating and with a NO BUSS coming up from the miles driven indicator supposedly means the ecm or control board is bad i jump t out the safety switch and it fixed the problem after i found out the steering shaft had a replacement put in and had started this immediately after words .and that is the rest of the story.GROVE CITY OHIO

You're lucky it's a mopar. my son has an 02 Ranger and to replace the peddle bracket you have to pull the whole dashboard

i bypassed the switch and the ruck will only start in neutral. if I move the stick shift to put in gear I just grind really bad what should I do

so after you do this do you still depress the clutch when changing gears? my instinct says i would still need to clutch when changing gears.
