I grew up building houses with my brother and loved doing it. It was a great experience but was never good at doing angle cuts. Watching Chad do those angle cuts seems to me to be a gift. Watching your videos takes the edge off of life. Cheers!
Very nice job! Interesting how you tied in to roof. I'm glad you guys are good at this. I can't help but think if I was doing this, the legs of that step ladder would slip off the edge and I would go head over ass off the end of the deck. Lol. Best wishes to you for a prosperous building season!
Once you go cordless you never go back. I went nuts over DeWalt cordless tools. Found out batteries were so expensive made sense to buy a tool with batteries - the tool ended up costing only a few dollars more. For example, the lawn mower came with two 6 amp 60 volt batteries (I think). The two batteries would of cost around 150 each at the time and they wanted something like 320 for the lawn mower so I got two more batteries and a twenty dollar mower. I don't remember the exact amounts but you get the idea. So I ended up with the original two battery miter saw, worm gear saw, reciprocating saw, jig saw, drills, 1 /2 " impact driver, hammer drill, weed eater, chain saw and on and on.
I’m looking at having a covered porch, put on my house, sort of like you’re doing here, except it’s ground level on the deck. It looks like in this video that you were going to have the roof of the porch off the top of the house’s roof, but then changed tactics to do an extension from under the eaves. Just wondering, because the builder wants to go under the eaves of my house and I’d like the extra height from attaching to the top of the house. Where are you going to originally have it come off the top of the house?? Thanks. it’s been interesting watching this build; I’m glad you’re not afraid of heights. LOL
So, not only do you have garage building choreographed, but can sculpt as needed. I am waiting to see if you adapt any of that famous architect M. C. Escher:s designs. I would like to see your ever rising stairs as an exercise walk-way on a garage. I am sure Chad could work out the angles.
Ken great work can you help with a problem? I have a pressure treated arbor over the garage that paint will not stick to. Any suggestions on how to paint this so the paint will stick?
mullalan ... Pressure wash the paint off and let the wood weather for at least 6 months. You will know when the wood is dry enough if you spray water on it and it soaks in instead of beading up. At that point you can use an oil based stain instead of paint.... because it will soak into the wood instead of laying on top.
