Isn't it amazing how much detail these modern sensors and lenses can capture with the correct lighting conditions? Lovely work!

It is cool how you used cyclorama as a giant light source. Unfortunetly this video sounds more like an Haselblad advertisment.. just like previous one. But thats ok I guess as you still share your ideas and knowledge. You are amazing!

The way you portray the handbags, the beautiful model, makeup, concept, image and lighting quality, make me want to buy those handbags. (And I'm a man.) I bet your images have sold so many wonderful expensive products. Thanks for sharing your process. I'm a beginner and this type of photography peaks my interest. That X2D produces sublime images also.

Amazing video Karl not only the things you show but also the edit, super clean. I guess you have some people doing that for you which is 100% okay of course. First thing I noticed was that you didn't shoot tethered and that was one of my questions but you answered that one in de video. Even on YT video that X2D screen looks pretty great. I was wondering, don't you think Hasselblad is cannibalising their H system market a bit with this camera and its performance ? Anyways, great weekend to you all and thanks for sharing !!
@VisualEducationStudio
@VisualEducationStudio Год назад
Yes I think the H6 is going to be over based on the performance of this camera. The tethered option is shown in our previous video with the product shoot.

Karl, Great review. Can you say that the X2D's auto focus speed has improved dramatically over the X1D version2? I know that the X1D, say with the 80/1.9 struggled to lock in. Please reply ...Cheers..Don

(Not to you, Karl, this question/feedback is to Hasselblad. Feel free to pass it along) Why doesn't have the camera a standard thumbstick to move the focus point? Isn't it extremely counter-intuitive and inefficient to do it either with two wheels or with your finger on the screen? Moreover, you unable all other essential functions such as aperture, shutter or ISO functions when you assign these for focus. If something is standard because it is proven efficient should be kept, unless/until one comes up with a better solution. It is not a better solution, especially when you're in a fast pace shoot or situation. Otherwise, I love your videos and appreciate how you try to cover Hasselblad's design blunder. They must appreciate you twice for that.

Mine was defect with loose fitting lens mount. They stopped shipping the lenses as the mounts are also poor fitting with low tolerance. No ability to tether live view made it useless for studio work. So I returned it and got my money back.

X2D compared with your older Hasselblad....which is better?
@VisualEducationStudio
@VisualEducationStudio Год назад
Hi, the X2D delivers better images than my H6 in terms of sharpness and clarity. I'm using the X2D in a lot more of my workflow but I haven't been able to relinquish the H6 just yet as the X2D doesn't yet have the full range of new lenses and I'm also hoping for them to introduce a set of extension tubes.

Do you think there is a visible difference shooting 16 bit vs 14 bit on the x2d?
@VisualEducationStudio
@VisualEducationStudio Год назад
I don't know I've not tested that I'm afraid.
@anthonyrock5039
@anthonyrock5039 Год назад
It makes a difference in recovery and with skies, and exposure over or under holds correct colours in general. Also if you massively crop and resize the crop, the 16 bit holds up further than 14bit. Those were my observations. Other than that, if you expose your images correctly and don't need to crop or need to enlarge for what ever reason then even 8bit would be fine.

The X2D is a heavily compromised, overpriced, technology-laggard. Note the shooting conditions in this promotion video: Controlled shooting environment, controlled lighting, professional models who can hold a pose long enough for the atrocious ‘auto’ focus, professional photographer with assistants, professionally designed set, and a lot of time.
@bobmcadams3951
@bobmcadams3951 Год назад
@@VisualEducationStudio You did not dispute my statements. Your response is an attempt at distraction. Please honestly disclose your business or compensation relationship with Hasselblad. Are you an ambassador? Promoter? Aside from early equipment access what other benefits or perquisites do you receive?
@bobmcadams3951
@bobmcadams3951 Год назад
@@VisualEducationStudio Thanks for your clarification. I respond to your rejoinder below, and, in turn, I hope you respond to my question. To your retort, “So have you used this new phase detection AF system on the new X2D combined with the new lenses?” I have not. I criticize this camera on the basis of consensus gleaned from Hasselblad’s data sheet, multiple reviews, and my assessment of the shortcomings of the X1DII. What reviewers say is as important as what they avoid saying. I, and I suspect others, had hoped Hasselblad would make significant competitive advances. It has not. In the case of axe-grinding, guilty as charged. Reviewers should be honest and transparent. Manufacturers should deliver fair value for hard earned dollars, instead of slick marketing by the occasional oleaginous promoters. So you see, I have responded to what I believe is the premise of your rejoinder. Now, will you kindly respond to the premise of my inquiry: What perquisites do you get for being an ambassador? You said you are not paid (money, I presume), but what benefits flow to you for being an ambassador? What is your angle? What worldly gains are you protecting? If you’re brave and principled, try this experiment: deliver a thorough and impartial review. Don’t settle for glowing and gushing. Let’s see how much longer you remain a Hasselblad ambassador. As you read my response, note well: I simply described the shooting conditions in your very own video. Nonetheless, let’s briefly expound a few criticisms of the X2D: compromised, overpriced, technology-laggard. Being usable is not the same as innovative. Read on. Let’s start with your admission that you’re a Hasselblad ambassador: Ambassador: a person who acts as a representative or promoter of a specified activity By definition, your relationship biases you in favor of Hasselblad. You opine that the AF system is fast and accurate … relative to the X1DII? The X1DII’s focus system is excruciatingly slow, so claiming a focus improvement over an antiquated focus system is not a feather in the cap achievement. Pretty much everything focuses faster that the X1DII. As a brief digression, an acquaintance joked he can turn any vegetarian into a meat eater, if he may starve the vegetarian long enough. Hasselblad executes a similar approach. It starves its fan base long enough such that they giddily celebrate any run-of-the-mill, to be expected, improvement. One reviewer acknowledged that the X2D autofocus is better compared to the X1DII, but he also said the X2D autofocus performance is akin to autofocus on cameras back in the year 2016. A minor upgrade is better than no upgrade, but should that be the standard for an $8200 camera? Hasselblad is still shamefully behind where it should be. Check the competition. Another reviewer reported that the X2D cannot shoot (1) wildlife, (2) sports, (3) live events, and, (4) is questionable for wedding [live event?] . The X2D has no joystick to reposition focus points. My entry-level camera somehow managed to have a joystick. If shooting live subjects, one cannot timely and accurately reposition the focus point using the control dials to capture the desired moments. You’re forced to choose focus accuracy or bad timing, sort of a photography Hobson’s choice? In focus-wrong time or out of focus-right time. You will miss the shot. Moving the focus point with the focus screen is also a compromise. The X2D screen might be more responsive than its predecessor, but it’s latency is obvious in the review videos. One reviewer said the X2D has no live view histogram. Does it really make sense to force users to wait until after shooting an image to check proper exposure? It unnecessarily slows workflow and can cause missed moments. These are just a few obvious limitations compared to the X2D’s competition. These are not minor inconveniences to be ignored. People are using the term “work around” to cope with the X2D’s AWOL features. Given the foregoing, do you actually think its fine for Hasselblad to ask $8200 (at least for non-ambassadors) for a camera with such insufficiencies? It is not even close to being a good value. That is a shame because so many are otherwise enthralled with the ergonomic form factor and the hunk of aluminum provenance. Evaluators give A’s to outstanding performers, not average so-and-so’s. At best the X2D’s feature set is average, if that. Does your conscience speak to you? Do you think you might listen one day?
