I got mine today for the first time! Thank you for putting out a detailed guide on taking care of this beautiful plant. P.S: "Drinkies" is now going to be my favorite plant care term. I'm sure it's gonna annoy some of my friends, but it'll be worth it :D

I just recently found out that they are a type of oxalis and was like "whaat😲😲" but now I definitely see it. Funny, I always thought it was a clover type.

They're easy to misidentify because of the leaves 🍀 very similar

Ooooo a video on this wonderful plant, finally!! Thank you!! I was given one last year. It wanted to go to sleep in August. I had it dried out, in a dark spot since then. I watered it, put it under my grow light in my mini grow tent... I hope it comes back! ( I'm sure it will) this is such a joyful, good vibe plant! I missed it!

Look towards your video of this lucky clover on how to re-pot, and maybe how to plant to get the pinky flowers

A quick question, and a quick idea. Quick question: what makes you choose which plant you're going to use in your videos? Quick idea: if it is edible (I bow to your knowledge on that one), you could try it in a floral gin. Daffy's would have that lovely green note, but also a citrus bite; or Blackwood's gin.

Thank you for your comment and idea, Neil 🙂 I talk about plants that I like and are interesting and that others are interested in too but I'm very open to video suggestions! As for the gin with herbs, I've got some shorts planned with gin (my favourite alcoholic drink 😋) and would love suggestions for those too. I know you're a pro!

why are mine all leggy and the leaves don't seem to open, when I water, some go limp and leaves fail. It is inside under grow lights, October 2nd...lots of leaves but not opening, just very long stems and curled leaf on top

Hi M C, it sounds like the light might be problem especially if they have very long stems. Iron Cross like full sun but can tolerate dappled shade and if they're not getting enough light they'll stretch or elongate their stems to reach it. It could be that they're also heading towards dormany,- at this time of year Iron Cross bulbs fall dormant to later emerge in the early spring, yours are being they're being stimulated by the lights so they might be in a kind of half dormancy. Don't water them too much either of the bulbs could rot. In my experience I've found some plants simply prefer being outside, ivy is also one of them. If you have an outdoor space Id leave your Iron crosses outside for a bit and let nature take over :)

I have two Oxalis and they have grown very long and spindly.. and droop quite often if I don’t water every day .. what have I done wrong
@balconiagarden
@balconiagarden 2 месяца назад
Hi Leslie, you haven't done anything wrong 🙂 any plant grown in a pot will dry out quicker than in the open soil and oxalis don't seem to hold water well. The ones I've grown inside look like that too and I grow them as a hanging plant with the stems falling down. The reason they've gone spindly is because they're not getting enough light so they elongate their stems to reach the light. You can't reverse the stem elongation so I would just enjoy their beautiful leaves and see them as a hanging plant this season 😄 I've also found my oxalis have grown the best outside, the maintenance was next to nothing as the rain watered them for me and they had the perfect amount of light. Hope that helps! 😃

Please tell me the dormancy time of this plant
@balconiagarden
@balconiagarden 2 года назад
Hi Tina, you can leave them for up to three months in a dark place once the leaves have died back. Once you see foliage staring to emerge bring it back into the light and start Watering. This is normally around autumn but depends on the cultivar abd conditions 🙂

You grow this Is in #Cocopeat or #Normal Soil ??? 😍
@balconiagarden
@balconiagarden 7 месяцев назад
I grow them in normal soil but cocopeat is a good alternative. Just be aware that cocopeat has a high ph so if bulbs or any other plants you want to grow have a specific ph requirement, keep in my you might need to change your growing medium.

Why is the plant drooping? TQ
@balconiagarden
@balconiagarden Год назад
Hi, 2 main reasons for drooping. First is not enough water and second is the plant is too far away from the light and is stretching to find it, make the stem longer, thinner and weaker in the process which leads to drooping. It could also being dying back before going into dormancy, which is perfectly normal and they'll grow back. Hope that helps 🙏
