You know you are getting comfortable in front of a camera when you start drinking a beer without realizing it. ;-)

Good sharing and thanks. I am in the midst of converting most of my plants collection to leca as well. Anyway, the plant in the beginning of the video is a Colocasia and they do best in water. They also do well in soil soaked in water at all times because they are not susceptible to root rot. 😊

Im surprise theirs no donation on your page. There is so much valuable information on a lot of people wouldnt give this to other without some sort of return. Crazy you deserve something.

Hi there!! Thank you !! I alway's learn at least one thing while watching. Sharing is caring. 💚 One thing that I think helps for me is using lukewarm water to rinse the roots. I even turn the lights down a little to minimize plant shock. Plants are kind of like humans for their needs. I also use DIY Pons mix that seems to work very well. For plants that need less water and more drainage I use larger chunks and maybe perlite & a little sand. When I get all the glass vases or planters I drill holes about 1" from the bottom. That way I can rinse the salts out. The thrift store has awesome unique planters and vases....so cheep, right ? Another thing that I got at the thrift store is the stretchy ankle wrap and I cut strips and use it for self watering wicks. My DIY Critter spray: 1 tablespoon each : Peppermint, & tea tree Castile soap, Neem oil. 3 TBSP hydrogen peroxide (3%), 1/2 cup isopropyl (70% is fine), 4 cups distilled or reverse osmoses water. WORK AWESOME! I get the hydrogen P and the alcohol at the dollar store, and I also find unique bags of gravel, glass beads, ect. there too. Spray water to blast critters off plant, then spray critter spray over and under leaves and perimeter of soil around plant. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse. Spray under planter too in the holes & water tray. Bugs like to go there. ESPECIALLY THRIP!! UGGHHH!!. Be careful and test plants first, especially THIN leaves. I found out about thrip on YT and realized that most of my plants had them. I irradiated them with my DIY Bug spray. Then for maintenance I spray a little around the perimeter of the substrate trying to avoid spraying the plant or roots. Then I spray a little in the water trays, especially monstera's or plant's that like water in their trays. Hope this helps anyone!!💚 🍀🌻🍀🌻🍀🌻🍀

You're doing amazing both with your plants and vlog skills! It's really inspiring watching you experiment and it all makes us learn from the mistakes you've been through! Good luck!

Those new babies are corms. I may be wrong, but I rhizomes are those potato looking "bulbs" that hold water in like ZZ plants.

Just found you today, got most my plants in LECA and was looking for propagation tips in LECA. I have alocasia bulbs currently in LECA and was able to get a few to sprout but a few others aren’t budging so I think I’ll try moss! I have a huge prop box with moss too so I’ll stick a few bulbs in there and see what happens 🤩. Needless to say, I subscribed and loved the video. Thanks so much❤️

I would really love to get a corm from that little unidentified Alocasia with the purplish red petioles, and dark foliage. I really wish you had identified it, as I really love that plant. I 'm happy to pay for a corm if you'd send me one. Thanks. Great vid.

Beautiful plants! I am just starting out with plants in leca. Do you have advice on how you keep algae from forming in your leca planted jars?
@FestiveBohemian
@FestiveBohemian 2 года назад
Avoid direct sun if the glass is transparent. Or cover the jar with a sock or something. Lol Other than that I don’t think there’s much you can do to stop the algae. Flushing should help too. It doesn’t harm your plant so wouldn’t stress it too much though.

Hi. Great video. Are bubls necessary to grow them in Leca or are the roots sufficient? I have a plant and I divided it in to 2. One of it had the bulb but the other didn't have a bulb. I put both of them in Leca today.
@FestiveBohemian
@FestiveBohemian 2 года назад
Hey thanks! Yes. The alocasia does need a bulb to grow. But roots grow out of the bulb so if you see roots you should be good!

hello, what do you use fertiliser wise when you grow in leca? I have transferred my bulbs to leca and they are starting to grow roots but realise they will need some nutrients if I'm going to grow them properly in leca? Thanks in advance :)

Sorry for the delayed response but here is the fertilizer I use … General Hydroponics Fertilizer: amzn.to/3D7M5yI

I had a amazing Polly with very large leaves. The roots were thick and white. Perfect plants. I put it in leca and a very small amount of water and the roots all rotted, 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Yea, mine were headed down that same road until I moved them to the moss. Definitely give sphagnum a try next time!

Totally not your fault but if I hear one more person call my hometown “high low” when it’s supposed to be “hee-low” I’m gonna scream. Lol
