In some countries, if you can't pay your bill when you are going to be released, they won't let you leave the hospital. I don't know about going to jail. I guess it would be like jail, as your family has to bring you food and your needs. Like in Mexico, and I know this because relatives live there. Them hospitals that are equipped to deal with any kind of treatment, you don't get nothing done unless you pay first. If any additional stuff done. Can't leave unless you pay. Then they have the basic hospitals that will take you regardless if you can pay or not. Then you only get a limited kind of help. If it's serious, then you are more than likely to die.

Some countries do still have "Debtor's Prisons". Specifically, in the middle east.....You have debt, you get locked up. Owing money is essentially illegal.

The Philippines...and some other Asian countries...will not tolerate not being paid.

I'd rather not be smirked at by anyone seeing me with a young hunk at my age (yes, people will assume they are a paid escort rather than a son), but there are other options too if someone needs that happy ending. I have been pampering myself since I divorced myself from my husband and I knew then it was all going to be ME TIME (finally) from then on. Had marriage proposals before the ink had dried on the divorce papers, but could see that it was not going to be for my benefit. They were looking for a nurse, maid, Sugar Momma with a paid off home, and 'companion' and I wasn't. There are good men out there, but more are not worth the risk of possibly being worse off after the honeymoon is over and their true colors ooze out. Relationships take time and energy. Fortunately I have never had a lonely minute in my life!

Things like : too trusting, taking words or actions at face value, blabbering too much of your personal information in general conversation, lacking basic common sense...... I got chatting to younger lady at a bus stop last week, and in the space of 30 mins she had told me about all sorts personal things that I didn't ask about and didn't need to know. Had I been a con artist I could have easily have manipulated her for my own ends. I would never do something that wicked. But many would. People (young and old) are far too trusting of others. Add loneliness into the mix.....any any slight sense seems to fly out the window. Every older person I know who have been scammed, were definitely NOT senile. They were however brought up in a different time (just after WW2) and tend to be more trustworthy (i.e.) He was such a nice young man with shiny shoes.....As weird as it sounds, a lot of older people take shiny shoes as a sign of being a decent kind person.

Her backstory was very detailed and believable. I declined to let her teach me crypto and then it went weird

Yes happy the daughters stepped in. Can't imagine what she would have done to keep sending him money. You actually learn from this. I've had men sent messages, but have never really continued chatting. I did remember one guy from TikTok that sent a message and said hello and normal. Then I logged off and a few days later, he had already sent a few more messages and was sounding pushy. Why aren't you answering me. I did answer him back. Told him you must not have being paying attention to my messages. That I don't get on here like I use to, due to have been busy with work. That being said, I don't need you asking me why I'm not answering, I answer if I feel like it. You will now be blocked. I first reported him and then blocked. I knew he was up to no good, but now I know he was a scammer. I definitely wouldn't fall for sob stories and just send money, even if I had money to spare 😂 especially a man that just said he's a Dr.

I see this on TikTok and other Social Media alot. I get friend requests from guys even though my profile says "married". I mean, I have chatted with some people, men and women both, but only about the topic of the video or something. Sort of like on here (YT). But I don't understand how anyone could fall for it when a random guy sends you a msg like, "Hey Beautiful! You have gorgeous eyes!" or "Hey Hunny". I'm immediately grossed out when someone does that! Whether they're gross looking or they're "model sexy", either way. If it's someone gross - well, it's obvious why... But if it's someone "model hot" - I didn't even get git on by THAT type of guy when I was 18 - 25 and young and hot myself. I'm not about to believe these men want me now that I'm nearly 40, married, and have 3 grown kids!

These scams typically last 6-9 months. It’s a lot more than a few words. It becomes part of these victims’ life. Their world gets turned upside down with the amount of manipulation that happens.

Especially, for a person they have never even met who is clearly scamming them. In my case I was pregnant when my ex left me for a romance scammer. I was helping to support him financially, and even doing his homework since he'd went back to community college. The extra money and time that I provided all went to "her." So much money, time and effort for someone he'd never met, and didn't even have an address or phone number for. Just a Gmail address where they'd chat and 2 or 3 stolen pics. The money lost is nothing compared to damage done to the lives of those involved.

It’s the "cindrella syndrome". She believe her Rich successful handsome Prince charmant in white horse is going to rescue her and marry her. She already have the shoes that fit it (in her delusion).

These clowns purposely misspell words & use photo-shopped photos to see if they have a "live-one" on their bait & hook. I hate to see anyone get scammed and i feel bad for the widows who lack street-smarts & common-sense. I've always felt that "predators" who prey on children & the elderly should be locked up & the key thrown away.
