How To Catch Ghost Shrimp:
For those of you that fish in the Area, or anywhere on the west coast, ghost shrimp can be one of the top baits for a variety of fish. From surfperch and striped bass in the surf to giant 100 pound sturgeon in the rivers, the possibilities are endless with a fresh ghost shrimp as your bait. Rather than buying ghost shrimp, catching them yourself can be infinitely more rewarding. In this video, I show what to look for, where to look, and how to catch them. Hope you enjoy! Please leave a comment below if you have any questions or have any requests for future videos.

Solid video. How long can you keep them alive in that container or do you need to switch out water, put them in a container with damp seaweed instead like shore crabs, etc.. ?
@DieHardFishing

Damp seaweed is the best. They should stay alive for at least a few days as long as they stay in a cool place.

we rinse them out, drain sand wash them out keep on top of paper towel in the jar (no water it will kill them)with lid that has small holes and put in the cooler with ice packs if fishing we keep them in plastic bag that sits on top a small ice pack if it is hot out side in the winter it is cool out so we don't use ice packs good luck!

Vincent Bedolla if you put the hook from the soft part at the tail and run it down to the head then hook it through where the legs are they are quite tough and last in waves

Very cool but also... you should help this shrimps to be rescued because they have a serious problem They have a parasitic isopods in their gills (How can you tell?) Well if you see a large lump on its side and had a pinkish color. Meaning it had a parasite in there gills buried in the shrimp’s skin

@dianahere3661

once upon a time, i was at a Beach on south Padre Island. i noticed small breathing holes that seemed to appear in the sand after the tide had receded. i decided that i wanted to know What caused these holes in the sand. So, i grabbed my plastic shovel and pail and i began to dig. A couple of times i got really close to the creature. I knew this because my shovel would scrape against it, which only gave me more motivation. The creature Kept digging deeper. when i finally exposed a glimpse of the thing; i was so absolutely frightened that i screamed and ran away. what i saw was so unexpected and Startling. At the time and until now, i had no idea what i saw. it was definitely a crustacean, it was all white; i saw it's head and it's front 4 legs wiggling in the air. it was a horrible sight. i was hoping for a clam or something. After coming across a youtube video about catching Ghost Shrimp, i knew right then that that is exactly what i had dug up that one day. A distant memory brought back to life.

Hey so these shrimps are currently in risk. The reason why is that there are parasitic isopods that were introduced into the us from China and they have been using the shrimp as host. There quite easy to remove. Gently lift up the gills and there might be one. So please limit using these magnificent creatures as bait!

Not the correct way. You teach beginners wrong. Wheres your float catch net. ? We use a small wheel barrow tube with fine netting attached below to pump the pumped sand it when wading in water so you can catch the prawns. Your pump is also not working correctly and looks weak. You need a strong good pump with deep lunges and pulls.
