This is how to catch mudcrabs on an oyster bar, I will show you how to rig crabs, what fish they are the best bait to use for also how to identify the differences between other crabs. This episode is the second video of a new series "behind the scenes of a charter captain". One may think a charter captain "Just fishes for a living" in fact, most most people don't see many of the things a charter captain does other than the fun glimpse of the charter trip itself. Mud crabs are my #1 bait for sheeps, and one thing ive noticed at the oyster bed where I get them is people do not flip the rocks back over so the dark side of the rock is pointing up. Conservation is definitely important, and simply putting the rocks back the way you found them will help the oyster bed grow and prosper. The being said, I have to find a new oyster bed cause that one is stripped.

Do you catch many sheepshead in the summer there too? We’re planning on coming to Bradenton in early August & wanted to find a fun & easy to catch like sheepshead. We’ll be in a party of 8, so also hard to find a charter that can take us out on a half day trip besides on a party boat. We fish a lot together all over on vacays….so looking forward to sunny FL soon. Any suggestions on sheep or charter would be awesome. Thanks

Not really there are some resident fish around but I mostly target them wen they are thick and spawning in the cooler water months

Hey Sslty, How well do they keep? Meaning do you catch the bait one day and fish em 1-3 days later? Or do you have to use those crabs the same day?

You can’t buy them, no one sells them, you have to catch them.
