Hi bud.. what a great catch. I been in sylvan this Christmas, but no luck to bring out some whites. I have garmin striker 4 plus, with a boat transducer. Can you enlighten me? Did you use apps connect to your garmin? I just bought an ice transducer yesterday.. happy holiday. Tight lines
Thank you...I don't know what you are asking me to be honest...if you are asking how I captured the video off the screen, I filmed the screen with my phone and cropped/edited it into the final video.
Thank you ! Believe it or not, it's just a basic clinch knot on which I leave a long enough tail end so I can tie the bottom fly. It's very important that you tie your top hook with the sharp point facing up.
Great videos, thanks for sharing. I noticed you lost a fish due to snagging on the transducer. Would making a second hole beside just for the transducer help?
Thank you for watching! A hole besides the transducer would help avoid snagging 100%, I this particular case I was fishing in 10" holes and decided to take my chances...
Thank you my friend...I always use relatively cheap combos from Cabela's, I believe here I was using the Fish Eagle 50 combos in medium-light. Even light tackle would work on smaller whites like those.
Nice fishing! I'll have to get down to Sylvan. Looks like good fishing. Saw a few guys making videos of catching some decent whitefish! Wishing you and yours a happy and healthy 2023!
May i ask again what kind of setting would be able to see such a thick orange fish marked line you had in your sonar video? is it the zoom setting? My unit's show much thinner lure lines and not the same fish mark line you had. I am haveing a hard to see any fish that come. Thank you.
Yes, I had them on McGregor and Traverse. Alot tougher to get them though. Best times on those lakes are November and April - May (open water, under bobber), when they cruise the shallows.
May i ask why there are 3 lines going up and down the same time? i don't know how to ice fish with sonar. Are there 3 hooks on the same line? I do own the same Striker 4 as you have but never know how to use it. What is the setting on your unit?
Hi Allan. Great question...on that setup, the three lines, from the top down, are swivel, wire worm and slender spoon. If you ever see other marks above them moving in tandem, they are ice beads on your line. The setups you should be more aware of are: Gain - lower it to get rid of bugs and minnow marks in waters with lots of them Sonar frequency - imagine an inverted cone from the surface to the bottom. Everything entering that cone you will see on your screen. Use chirp, it' more accurate, the 200 kHz is a narrower cone, so more suited for bigger depth, the 77 kHz is wider cone and better suited for shallower water... On traditional view (my setup in the video), everything left of the vertical line is a history of what is happening in real time on the right side of the screen. My settings were high gain, 200 chirp. Feel free to ask anything else 👍
