Don't quite understand why this method works but it does. Had almost given up centering this cheap knife that I simply love. Followed your tutorial to the letter and we're good! Thanks for posting this tip!
Great video. I was scared to death to break the locktite and try this but your video gave me the courage because this sng needed a serious cleaning. Mine was off taking a little off the g10 handle on the inner edge but once centered you solved the problem. Thanks again !!
Got my DGG SnG to center up without loosening anything but the scale fasteners and jamming the blade with a piece of wedged plastic. I had zero blade play anyway. Thanks You for your time.
Thank you for this post. For me it only minimally moved my blade over to a not really noticeable amount... it did however absolutely lessen the unacceptable lock stick and moved the lock up earlier which I prefer a early lock up so those are big pluses. I can live with the off centering on this knife as long as it doesn’t rub. This is my 5th Strider and first one that was off center. The other four are damn near CRK action. Until I saw this video this SNG was a turd right out of the bag new, now it’s absolutely acceptable as a hard use work knife.
I did this to my SMF, and it got it centered up very well. My knife was nowhere near broken in, but it did set me back just a bit on the break in process. No matter how loose I got the pivot, it was tighter. So, I’ll just keep fidgeting until broken in.
Enjoyed the video that was some good tips also you can use finger nail polish instead of lock tight works good on rifle scopes as well all have a blessed day Randy.
Cool video. My new SMF is slightly off center. Wish I saw this before sending it in to Strider. Now I know what to do if it ever gets off center again....
You sent it in just cause it was slightly off center? That sucks you had to pay for shipping for something that easy to fix, surprised they didn't just tell you how
I just got my first Strider, a new SMF. The blade is nearly touching the aluminum scales, so I disengaged the lock, and have blade play. I went ahead and ordered a tool for it, and will try the pivot adjustment first, because I figure since there’s a little blade play, the lock itself is pushing the blade towards the presentation side.
Great video guy. I've heard/read of the trick but never saw it actually done. I do have a question, for any knife really, when you're loosening or tightening a pivot is it a must to use a wrench on one side to hold it while tightening etc. on the other side? What good does that do, if any? Thanks. I subscribed.
Thanks for your video. I don't see the rationale for tightening the pivot screw down at the beginning of your centering process. And why do you need to do it with the blade at 90 degrees open? Some centering videos I've seen say to loosen the pivot. Frankly, it appears that it doesn't matter too much what you do to the pivot at the start of the process. In fact, if you are trying to push side of the knife past the other, it seems to me that tightening the pivot makes the process that much harder.
Thanks for the info but to anyone else. Don't be foolish and throw your money away on the absurdly priced tool. The Park Tool CNW-2 works perfectly and is about $6 as opposed to $65.
So, in you opinion, as long as the lock up is bank vault with no blade play, the center of the blade is a non issue. I have two SnG Striders, both legos. One with Z WEAR steel. The one with Z WEAR is pretty off center. I was disappointed when I got it from Monkey Edge. I just don't know if it is worth the hassle of sending it to Strider. Thoughts?
I have a question for you My Friend, I just got a Brand New SMF Today and the Detent is so weak it's ridiculous. It looks like the Detent Ball is a little Flat to me, what do you think I should do? 🤝🏾🇺🇸💪🏾
@@ThePhilapplication I haven't tightened the Pivot yet because all I have is the Hinderer Tool and I really don't want to Mare it up but if I have to I sure will. And I can't see how far the Ball is in the hole at all.
@@ThePhilapplication And I'm so glad you made that Video 📹 Brother that I don't know what to do 🤣😂 and I know it's an older Video but it help the Old Man out tremendously.
@@ThePhilapplication Merry Christmas Phil to you and your Family Brother. If you have time please give me a call 📞? At, 915-433-9891 thank you very kindly Young Man. 🤝🏾🇺🇸💪🏾
@@ThePhilapplication It's not the Detent at all, it's the First Handle Screw that was Loose and I tightened it and now the Action is SUPER TIGHT, but I'll Break it in Brother. Take care and thanks again. 🤝🏾🇺🇸💪🏾
