This is a terrible method. Two bolts removes the tank. 6 bed bolts with locktight and remove the tail lights is your “easy alternative” Go fuck yourself if you’re this fucking dumb
Thanks for watching I always film my repairs on my truck so that way if anybody needs help I'm there for them I certainly could use more subscribers my truck is getting older and repairs seem to be coming faster and faster.
If I feel ambitious enough to give this a shot I will be watching this again....not right now though with my torn rotator cuff. I started my a couple times a year for the past 5 years and no problems until now. Definitely the pump or whatever drives it. Don't have a grappler to lift my bed off though...good idea for sure. I've watched the way you drop the tank and it looks to be a total pain the ass either way, but at least I only have a couple gallons or less in mine. Good video.
@@alexdobo3270 hey bud my truck is doing the same thing stalling out but u can hear the fuel pump kicking on when u turn the key . Could u hear yours kick on still too ?? Mines a 2007 dodge ram
Yeah this method was quite retarded. Hurr durrer I don’t want to undo the two bolts on the fucking clamps so I’ll just do the 6 bed bolts and 4 tail light bolts, fuck with some already ran electrical lines and just do a nice hum up job. What a piece of work. And you bothered to film this bullshit??? Please by god just drop the fuel tank 👌
@ Alexander Dobosiewicz Great Video!! I just took the 2 bolts out on the tank straps on my 2003 hemi ram. Far easier than taking the bed off but then again your tank was full. Mine was able to be run empty because fuel pump sometimes worked an other times didn't. I got mine to work temporarily by hitting the bottom of the tank in the center with my hand so that was super easy on my part I'm glad I didn't have to take my bed off.
Dude. I deadass need to do my fuel pump but I can’t seem to get off my bolts that hold my bed to my chassis so I’m struggling with that right now. Not to mention it’s 4 degrees and snowing where I’m at
@@jeremywilson8334 I removed the bolts except the rear bolts but only loosened those then raised up the bed and placed blocks to hold it up. Free range to the fuel pump. No need to drain or drop the tank.
Hell yeah man! On the next 90° Sunny Florida day I'll get my big ole bull dozer out and strap my bed to it and lift it off...much easier...I just need a bulldozer and a sunny day
I'm about to do my fuel pump change, this helps alot because before I saw this video, someone had told me about this procedure versus dropping the gas tank. And do I have to release the pressure from the front or only if I'm going the other direction (dropping tank)
@@brianflowers1498 hey, I actually saw another video that was easier than lifting the whole bed. The other video showed how to just lift the bed from one side and prop it up with a board or something and it actually worked, I had room. Of course you have to do the same as this video tho, take lights out, unbolt, etc. Took me a few hours, not too bad.
@@BriBeast8566 As long as there is enough air space for the fumes to dissipate before the fuel air mixture(if high enough) meet a spark in the vacume motor then there's no problem...
Why they never add a little hatch for the fuel pump change before start the car production. I like your video it is much easier way to do the pump change if you dont have workshop to raise vehicle. Do you think 4 men can lift the bed up? I don't have crane(( Thanks for uploading!
I’m aware it’s been a while but have gig replaced with aftermarket or OEM pump? I’m debating whether it’s worth the $250 for OEM. If you have an aftermarket has it lasted or would you have preferred OEM? Thank you.
My truck is doing the exact same thing as yours did, I replaced the fuel pump and it did not fix it, any advice???? I appreciate any information you can give!!! I have the 03 model with the 4.7 5 speed
Check the codes that's the first place I would start its free at most autoparts stores or you can pick one up for less than 50 they are really handy to have because everybody ends up getting a check engine light at some point.
@@alexdobo3270 I replaced the crank sensor and it started but it’s still hard to start and dies sometimes I think I’m going to run seafoam through the intake and see what that does!!!
I have a 2000 Dodge ram 1500 gas strap broke so I put a ratchet strap on itnow my vehicle act like it's not getting any gas do you think the ratchet strap knocked something loose or tight on a line
Step one. Grab your excavator that you definitely have. XD jk great video man, I just dropped the tank instead of raising the bed and it was an ab workout for sure lol
How does the pump come out of the tank... you didn't show it coming out or the new one going in. That's where I am stuck. It won't pull straight up and the manual doesn't show show those details
This just happened today. Truck didn't want to start in the morning. Checked fuel pump relay and fuse both were good. Couldn't figure it out. Then saw a vid from EricTheCarGuy he mentioned try hitting the bottom of the tank and then try to crank it. Shoooootttt!!!!! It started right up. Was able to make it home and do the repair. It boggled, sputtered at times and turned off on me but, hit the tank again with my hand and it started right up. Thank God. Try it if you haven't gotten it repaired by now.
in the video that you showed what it was doing, starting then dies. after it did that and you cranked again did it start. basically first try starts and dies second try starts and runs ?
No it always dies until I changed the fuel pump. However if your tank is not maintaining pressure via a vacuum leak it can cuase stalling while driving I know from experience also if it starts and stalls fuel pump could be going out try rapid accelloration if it cuts out could be either of the two
Did that with mine, worked just fine. I'm leery of throwing sparks, so instead of using a grinder, I used my air hammer with cutting attachment. Cut through the bed like butter and took 3 minutes.
I just put a fuel pump in a Dodge truck took me 30 minutes and I didn't take the bed off I drop the tank down put the new one in put the tank right back up why you people do it like this I'll never know
Your truck is old, I bought my truck in 2000. Ordered it from the factory so it's a 2001 model. The fuel pump went out on it last fall and now I'm going to replace it.
Like everyone has a loader to remove the box. There's another video of a lady doing it by herself after removing the bolts on one side of the bed and loosining them on the other side and then jacking up one side. Easy Peasey
