My recommendation is change all of them the rest will go soon. Blow out the area for dirt. I put anti seize on threads there are horror stories broken plug. The head is aluminum it can Gaul the threads

That’s how I would do it! If I were doing it again I would just replace them all because shortly after this video I got a code for another one lol Glad the video could help! Great video. My 2017 L5P just tripped a code for #2 glow plug. This will make it a total of 3 that I’ve had to change out. I was told by the dealer that it had to be done with them because the glow plug needs to be timed. Honestly I’ve never heard anything like that. But had them change the last 2. After watching your video I’m doing it!

Thanks for the video. Very well done, concise and to the point. I have a 2015 3500 Denali Dually (Black). Had the P0676 code as well, so this video was exactly what I needed. Replaced the the #6 cylinder glow plug and check engine light is off!

Did you have to disconnect the battery to do this?

I did not disconnect my battery, but it may be safer to do so. I just took my time and was very careful since this was my first time replacing a glow plug. Entire job took about 1.5 hours.

Now I’m getting the p1338 code after I’ve cleared it a couple times Dealer said something about needing to relearn the glow plug module 🤦‍♂️ such crap!

Great video and a beautiful truck. Question for you. I was told that the new glow plugs have to be relearned, is that true? I personally don’t believe it. Never had to before Thanks

Thank you I appreciate the support! 👍🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟 And I have never re learned mine and it was fine after a start or 2 the light would go off or you can just clear the code I can’t speak to if it’s correct to re learn it but I never have I would recommend changing all of them at the same time tho or atleast all the ones on the side you are going to work on so you don’t have to go back in to do one next to it later Good luck and thanks for the support 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟

Did you have to turn your check engine light off manually or did it turn off on its own?

I have a monitor in the truck so I cleared it but it will go off on its own after a few starts I believe

@@bought2build I just changed my glo plugs, I turned the light off with my machine. It has yet to come back on. I did not know if the light would turn off on its own.

Did you have to do any relearn procedure for the glow plug?

I did not have to do any type of relearn all I did was clear the code but if you cycle the key a few times the check engine light should go out if everything is good to go I believe. hope this helps!

That would totally be up to you. Knock on wood so far I have only had that 1 go bad but if they started to go bad back to back I would consider replacing at least all the ones on the side you are working on and then if one on the other side goes replace all of those at that time good luck!!

anyone have issues not using the reamer? i changed all 8 of mine and did NOT use the reamer. long story short: a guy on facebook commented that he did not use the reamer either but one of his tips broke off after about 40 miles of run time
