***WARNING***If you do not lock the cam phasers in place with the alignment marks the cams will turn and be out of time when you remove the belt. When you try to start it after finishing the belt replacement you will bend the valves and have to pull the head etc.
You do not need the lock tool.. you just have to make sure your marks are on when you go to put the belt on, like any other timing job. I just did this service (first time doing a 1.8) no lock tool. The exhaust cam will want to kick over, just use a torx socket and turn it back in line when you slip the belt on. No need for extra tools, just use the one up above your shoulders
Well, that was easy! I was told I have to have special tools to hold the cam sprockets, and the flywheel. And that the valve cover had to be removed as well. ---Thanks!

Great job just make sure to tell people on timing jobs. At the end.. your insurance is rotating the engine by hand two times to make sure it all lines back up correctly! You can repeat this process a few times as a fail safe to ensure your work is complete and that the marks continuously keeo lining up. Its your last line of defense on those interference engines. 💪🤙
