You actually reminded me to back up some of my stuff on double layer 8GB DVD. Hard drives crash or files may get corrupted from malware. Cant overwrite a closed DVD. 😊
I generally torque in the star pattern. As you mentioned don't forget to retorque after a few miles. I've made that mistake. Good video and I appreciate the tip on the torque wrench storage. Didn't know that.
Thanks for reminding me about torqueing again after a few miles! Definitely need to leave a mini checklist to glance over for whenever we do this once in a blue moon. :)
Why is it important to retorque? I've been changing my own tires for years - my dad taught me and I never heard about that. What's the reason behind that? If it's tight it's tight no?
The M3 frame is pretty ridged. While rotating tires front to rear I was able to jack the rear up high enough that the front tire came off the ground too. Cut the job time in half.
You didn’t tighten in a star pattern when you tightened the lugs then you didn’t torque them in a star pattern and how does the TPMS resync to the new wheel? You should also put chock-blocks behind both rear or front wheels. Good video in general thank you!
Titanium lug nuts to dress up your Tesla Model 3, S, X and Y. Retrofitting your cars for reduced weight with increased performance. Our Ti alloy is an aerospace grade advanced material that has durability and lightweight construction. Color: Gold/Burnt Blue Just reply here if you are interested, thankyou! :)
You absolutely torque wheel locks. It's a lug like any other, it holds down 1/5th of the wheel and can come loose like any other nut. If your wheel lock can't handle being torqued your locks are trash.
This is old and u probably wont see this but if you do, can i just get a regular tire from any tire store as a spare? I dont want to pay someone 60 bucks to install my tire for me when i could in 5 minutes
Hello. I am using the Daytona 3 Ton Low Profile Jack from Harbor Freight. www.harborfreight.com/3-ton-low-profile-professional-rapid-pump-floor-jack-black-64780.html This low profile jack have enough clearance to use the Jack Pad adapter for Tesla. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NLWrkFfcKMc.html
3 tons is 6,000 lbs (6,600 lbs if we're talking a metric ton) so a 3 ton jack could lift the entire car, not just one corner or one side. There's certainly nothing wrong with a jack with more capacity than weight to lift but 3 tons is way more than you need. The one issue with using a higher capacity than needed is that the mechanical advantage must be greater on the high capacity jack, so you will require more pumps, or a longer stroke, than if you use a lower capacity jack.
Hello. Wheel nut? Do you mean the Aero Cap Kit? No, you have to buy that separately ($50) if you want to remove the Aero Wheel Covers. shop.tesla.com/product/model-3-aero-wheel-cap-kit You can buy many Jack Pads already professional made. One of the best brand to me is the Reverse Logic. I find it was cheaper to make them yourself. jackpad.us/tesla www.abstractocean.com/jack-adaptors/
The impact wrench is designed to stop the moment the lug tighten. Then you will have to use a torque wrench and set it to the car's spec. I will set it to 129 lb ft and the torque wrench will click when you do one last tighten down on the lug as you see here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4gYteBREm6Y.htmlsi=zy-a-ufbhhpPJEFU&t=430
Wow! You carry all that stuff around with you? Not me, I ain’t getting on my hands, and knees to change a damn tire. I’ll just called Tesla roadside service, pay the bill, and let them do it. Cheers 🥂
I was told by a Tesla tech that the Model 3 is so rigid that they jack up from only the rear jack point to lift both front and rear tires on one side of the vehicle off the ground. That may be necessary with a flat that makes it too close to the ground to use the nearest jack point.
"DAYTONA 3 Ton Low Profile Professional Rapid Pump Floor Jack" www.harborfreight.com/3-ton-low-profile-professional-rapid-pump-floor-jack-black-64780.html I see it often go on sale with a coupon for about $115 or so. Look for a promo code; I wouldn't pay full price for it.
How bad is the curb rash? Maybe you can repair the wheel like me. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X35Fpuq6xjo.html I borrowed the OEM wheel from a friend.
Hello. I was using a Husky 1/2-in Drive Click Torque Wrench from Home Depot. I also have a list of other relating tools in this video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IdUxghIov3g.html
Hello. You mean the jack pad adapters? I actually made my own from hockey pucks for cheap. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NLWrkFfcKMc.html
Hello. Just a question. Since impact wrench outputs at a high torque, when tightening the lug nuts, how are you sure that you don't over torque it? Thanks in advanced.
This impact wrench have a mode for lug nuts. The moment it sense the lug tight, it will instantly stop. You will have to use a torque wrench to manually torque your lugs to spec after. So while in that mode, you can't over tight the lugs.
Hey just wanted to thank you again I just changed my wheels for the first time in my life and it wouldn’t have gone as smooth without your video! Good luck and happy holidays!
Usually you wanna use a torque stick with won't let you over trq. But in the event you don't have one general rule is to hand tighten you lugs first to the point the wheel isn't moving and then give it a quick 1 sec tighten if your using gun and do that twice. After that use the trq wrench to finish up trqing your tire.
You seem to have never changed tyres. Always lose them, but never more than to open them if tight, and only so that barely tyre touches the ground. Tyre does not spin and no real weight is on the tyre.
