I bought a 335i M Sport. Coming from a e46 330ci, the F30 is a fantastic "does it all car". Great highway cruiser, grocery hauler, and with the push of a button it's plenty fast.
Dude, you are always on point with these videos when I need to maintain/upgrade something on my car. Keep it up, I really appreciate the time and effort you put into these. Thank you.
Thank you. My car smells so fresh now, my girlfriend thinks I'm a stud because I did it myself, and I didn't even realize there was a 12v underneath my dash. You rock.
Great video!!! After you remove a cabin air filter, do your best to wipe a shop towel inside the filter housing. Some of those leaves and twigs might be stuck inside there. Access can be pretty tight, but it’s a simple extra step to do.
Love ur channel !! Being watching all the videos! Very informative and helpful! Plz keep it up !! In btw i have 328d 2015.. so all the mods u did matches to my car !! Thanks again
Bryan thank you for this! I have been putting it off for a while but the smell is awful. This reminds me how simple the process is. Will grab the ozone device from Amazon thru your link as I have the filter. Thanks man!! Ari
I just bought a 2019 430i with just under 20k miles. I love it but the smell was slight at first but has grown over the last 4 months. It’s making me hate the car. Thanks for making this video. I’m confident that changing the filter will make me love it again.
Thanks for the video, very helpful. Bought my 335i xdrive used, smelled like piss and BO when AC was on, now I just changed cabin air filter and did the o zone douche-ing- so much better, car smells like fresh rained on forest now.
Sorry guys but the air filter is meant to face the engine compartment! I just did this service on my car and BMW (yes BMW!!) put it in the wrong direction (same way as the video). The way to tell is by looking at the old filter. One side will have crap on it (bugs/sticks/debris etc as shown) and the other side is clean. The air has to have flown through the dirty section first and then the clean side is the part where the air comes into the cabin so the arrow should be pointing to the clean side of the old filter. The filter arrow should point to the front of the car/engine compartment. I think you need to video this again.
What's weird about this is we did the video and so did Shumile and both of us have never changed it and it was in the same way.. and Bentley did the video as well, and all of ours were in the other way ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4qoUTUWvB3Y.html
@@KiesMotorsports Initially, I just copied BMW not really thinking about it. Then I looked at the instructions from the mann filter to discover their arrow pointing towards the front of the car catalog.mann-filter.com/media/einbauanleitung/HBGNxbAO.pdf . So I looked at my old filter again and have convinced myself that when BMW last serviced my car, they put it in incorrectly. It shocks me that the so called professionals in BMW are getting this wrong. The other way to test it is to turn the fans on and put a sheet of paper in place to doubly check direction of flow. I looked at Shumile's video and I think his old filter was installed properly. He suggests replacing it with arrow pointing towards the front of the car too.
The arrow goes towards the engine! Mine came from the factory in 2014 that way and that's the way the dealer did it when under warranty. Now I used your video and did it myself with ARROW POINTING TOWARD THE ENGINE. Doesn't matter if the writing with the arrow is on the top or bottom, but it should point toward the engine. This was a great video otherwise and very clear. I also discovered I had an extra 12v port like you, I never knew about.
G'day Bryan, I have done step by step on how to get rid of this bad odors as per your video above. but just a day later the smell came back. this time I'm sure its coming from the ac vents. pretty strong smell (literally causes headache) even ac is turned off. I recon its coming from evaporator coil core. I've seen other videos where they strip the entire dash down to clean it. is there other way/easier way to do it? hope you're making a video for this. I can t find it if you already did. keep up the good work mate. cheers!
Every other car: Open the glovebox and pull the cabin filter out, BMW: You need a 10MM, a torx set and a Kies DIY video to finger out this black magic.
You should make a video of which blend doors controls the left or right side of the dual climate system. My left side of the F30 comes out hot when I put the heater but the passenger side vents come out cold.
Hi Brian, Thank you for doing this video. I was the one that requested this video a few weeks ago. That was quick! Unfortunately, I already tried replacing my cabin air filter. The moldy smell is still there. I believe it is the evaporator coil that is moldy and needs a cleaning. I was hoping you would be able to do a DIY of locating and cleaning the evap coil. In any case, thank you for the video. This issue is literally the only thing I hated about my F30 and now my F80.
If you still having done this, there is a cleaner called klima on Amazon. Get it it comes with a long white injector tube.. then where you clean replace the air filter there is a drainage on the plastic cover than hangs down. Stick the white tubing as deep as possible in there (you can remove the tip of the tubing so it can fit) the spray the entire can. I did that to my f30 and man its air is now as clean as a new car!!!
Very helpful video! I need to address an odor in my (new to me) F32. The dealer used some kind of fragrance when detailing the car before I picked it up, and it smells too "perfumy" to me. It's not a dirty, musty or offensive smell, but not what I want my new BMW to smell like. So I have been researching ozone generators, thinking that is the solution, although I have read a lot of conflicting information saying that ozone degrades plastic and rubber inside the car. Is there any truth to this?
I was looking at some BWM ac filter installation videos in Japan, and they all had the arrow pointing to the front of the car. Also, when I removed my ac filter which was installed by the bmw service folks, it was pointing forwards as well. I hope you can update the video to point this out.
The E chassis have the air filter in engine bay therefore it does not have the stink smell issue, F chassis have it inside just for sound isolation to make the AC blow quitter where it suffers from being burried in dark , humid and old air
E-series have the same smell problem. And in F-series when internal recirculation is on, the air still goes through the air filter and the dust is removed. In E-series this is not the case. So the new system is superior. In the summer air ventilation can be turned on after stop to dry the filter.
Thanks for the video!!! Do you have any idea in the f30 330e how to set the Ac to be running once i exit the car? If I open the door to get out, it stops everything instantly.
hello Bryan, I followed your video changed my cabin filter, but still have smell when I start the car, the smell last like 20 sec and will go away, I checked online ,some people spray on the coil in AC system, do you know where its located? thanks a lot!!!
Ozone generator is not available on Amazon and they don't know if it will every be available. I have this problem with stuff you suggest to buy from Amazon for the f30.. it's not prime or in China or not available. I ordered a stop start button... it comes confess from China... Still not here after 2 months.... The other seller good the button sent the wrong one and that one took 30 days..... Please suggest stuff that is 1-available 2-in the US or UK
Just buy another Ozone generator. They all do the same. It’s just that this one plugs to cigarette lighter. Run an extension and plug to wall outlet. Just make sure u close doors and don’t breathe the Ozone! It’s bad for your lungs. Did this several months ago and my AC still smells great....even in this 100 degrees NY heat👍
darn the product is unavailabe :( could use it on my sisters car(my old one). smells horses in there, previous owner was a horsewoman so i guess it had its fair share of the farmlife.
k metz......the smell is due to biological growth on the evaporator coil. That doesn’t mean it has to be replaced. It can be cleaned. The issue is gaining access to it in order to clean.
