Replacing the rear driveshaft u-joints involves pulling the rear diff back to remove the driveshaft. Would unbolting and pulling the rear diff back possibly give enough movement to have pulled the axle out of the housing?
On the front it is easier to just take the bolt out of the bottom ball joint and one of the biggest things with working on anything is keeping your cool
I never understood why they only run one rear brake... These things are not known for being fun to work on lol. Make sure you torque your axle nuts to the recommended torque spec, not sure if you did, but it's important.
