You don't have to have a press to press that rotor to the hub assembly you can slide the wheel studs through stack washers up take a lug nut and an impact and you can suck each one of those lug nuts through to seat the rotor to hub just make sure to go criss cross pattern when tightening so it's done evenly

Tip; use c-clamp on one of the old pads to prevent running caliper cylinder in sideways and breaking brake.

This video was great for tips and as a quick refresher (and reminder of what sockets i needed lol). I don't have a press at home, but i used some washers and a nut to pull the studs through instead of pressing them in. Threads are still nice and clean. Thank you for the video!

I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 with a 12 valve Cummins this is the only video that showed the correct brake/rotor assembly. My 1-3/4" nut wouldn't move so I pulled the stub axle hub rotor as one, did it inside out mode, never removed the 1-3/4" nut as u c in vid the rotor is behind the wheel flange

I see you have the cummins, probably a 3500 too, mine is a 2500 V110, the only thing I do different is I leave the cap on the brake repressive and use a caliper tool , I spent 45 year using "C" clamps though bro, that brake caliper tool is a godsend since AuthurRits took over my hands, and I don't have press, i have to do THAT the old fashioned way, with a stump 9 with 8 holes for the studs a really bug punch and a hammer

I've watched a number of videos like one this, and I have 3 points, #1 replace the onboard seals while you have it all apart, #2 clean the knuckle and surrounding area while it's easy to get to, #3 paint all parts of the rotor and bearing that you can, they will last longer, otherwise as good Vid.

@niobraraterminalrailroad2709
@niobraraterminalrailroad2709 2 года назад
Better to open bleeder fitting, aim into coffee can or other catch pan, this will allow the old contaminated brake fluid to drain. Add fresh brake after pushing each of the calipers back to accept the new pads.

@basketballjones6782
@basketballjones6782 5 лет назад
No. The (I assume you mean) 2 wheel drive flavor has a standard integrated hub/rotor. One has to remove the wheel bearings by removing the dust cap and center spindle castle nut. There is no reason to press out/in the studs, and there are no "sneaky" 4 bolts holding a hub to the steering knuckle. It's totally different than this.
@w2dmw
@w2dmw 6 лет назад
Nice Job. Only tip I have is to suck out as much brake fluid as you can from the master with a turkey baster-type of tool, and put in fresh dot 3, or better. Now when you bleed the calipers, you'll purge out the rest of that contaminated fluid. Purge out the rear, while your at it, and she's cherry to go !!!

@oldengdg2575
@oldengdg2575 5 лет назад
Mine - I just changed the pads - $30 that's it. Rotor like your is just fine. Hub bearings feel good. I used a big screwdriver to pry the pad apart before removing the assembly. No groves as I changed way before any metal to metal. My Dad owned a brake shop. Fix what needs to be fixed no more. I had about half a pad of wear. Lithium grease for moving parts. Wheel Calipers work just fine no leaking. No need to replace good parts. I'm not going to turn drums with all that hub to remove and such little wear.
