Really appreciate the humble try hard spirit! Great job. Very easy to follow. Got what I was looking for,, and that was the different colored compression springs , where they were placed. Many thanks. kc
finally someone clearly showed the whole assembly. Mine ws missing the E brake arms, which i obtained replacements for, but I wondered how it went together. Thanks!
this is a great video. Well done guys. i have my 69 jacked up now and i am heading out to get the tools for changing out emergency brake and springs etc. I wish i had this beside me while doing the job.
Hey, Thanks for the kind comment, we appreciate it. but yeah, the weather has been weird lately. specially when cold, the knuckle busters Hurt the most lol
Good video. Just did a 69 camaro and it was so rusty when I took it apart there was no use taking pics. Used this video to get it back together. Thanks
Non Mechanic here- I've had 4 shops tell me "If you buy the complete kit- we'll do the job" I was a locksmith- long hauler- and a factory rat- but never a self proclaimed "mechanic".. So I need so help... I went on Amazon- to buy a "complete drum brake kit"- never knew there were so many variations- growing up friend would just walk in and " buy stuff to do their brakes" no big deal- that was 50 years ago.... On amazon- I typed in my car - 1948- then Pontiac- then Streamliner or Silver Streak. and damn- I thought 1-3 choices would pop up... -- I was going to order new drums- but again too many variations --- Any way you can help- I was told- I do not need to get a new master cylinder- or brake lines- just a complete kit to do a complete brake job...I can't try and do the job myself- because at 70- I just don't bend that easy anymore....Oh, I was going to order from Kanter- they only have 2 choices- but would take a lot longer to get...
You used the wrong cylinders, those are 7/8 bore for 4 wheel drum brakes. Should of installed 15/16ths bore since your setup is drum/disc. You even proved it to yourself when comparing the parts (they look different). The short/long shoe is not optional on direction short one to the front. Anti seize shouldn't be used behind the shoes, and you should grease the pins so it doesnt tear the rubber seals. Your friend doesn't know what hes doing.
