One thing to add. Once you become a manager, you have to wait 7 days before you can become the primary owner.

Thank you! This was very helpful. All I needed was to change the email of primary owner to new email...and learned how to do this. I'm waiting the 7days so I can move that email to the owner's position. I don't have a "brand account" yet, and hoping that is not necessary. What you and other's have said suggests that it will be required. Thank you again!

@@nnataalia I didn't complete the process...so not sure about this. I need to go through the process again. I have access to the account and to the old email I was using, so it hasn't been a priority - but would still be helpful to complete this.

@@nnataalia I am not the best one to ask if it is possible. I was in the process of trying to make the email change...but due to other priorities, I didn't complete the process. Since I have access with the current email...it was not a priority to get those changes made (at least not yet).

This was very straight forward. I've been wanting to get this ownership transferred for so long and just couldn't stumble on the right information to do this. So that you - much appreciated. The only thing I didn't realize is once I made my new email an owner, RU-vid would not allow me to make my new email the primary owner immediately. I got a message telling me I needed to wait 7 days before I could transfer ownership. That's OK I've waited this log another week won't hurt.

@@luz.victoria it did. Although it indicates my new email is the primary owner it didn’t switch the channel to the associated google account with the new gmail - so things get a bit confusing when working with other interfaces like Streamyard

Thank you so much for this video. I don't know how to express how helpful this was. I spent over an hour with a support agent at RU-vid asking how I could disassociate/"replace" my (university-hosted) gmail account from my RU-vid account. I was quite suprised to hear the agent say this is not possible, especially after I asked her to confirm with a supervisor. She put me on several holds and came back with a hard no. The issue I'm having now is, after adding my alternate email as a new user, I am unable to transfer ownership under the Manage Permissions window. I see the exact same layout as yours, except I don't have the little carrot (upside down triangle) next to the role that opens up the edit box. Do you know why that may be? The agent said it's because I must wait 7 days in order to transfer roles, but I would assume the existing owner should see it, no? Any input would be so much appreciated. 🙏

It would be nice if the guy replied to comments like this. I'm wondering if you can turn the channel back into a private YT account after you do this, since I'm not a business and would rather not make my YT channel a business one. Literally this email I'm using on this account is so old that I don't even have access to the email anymore. I don't know how its still working when the email is gone but you can see why I wanna get it changed as soon as possible.

I wish RU-vid change its status on brand channels. It’s very unfair for any content creators to go through something like this. I love the idea of one email and 50 brand channels. However, one false move from any one of 50 channels getting copy strikes can get terminated. I wish RU-vid managers and RU-vid ceo can see these channels rather separate and not one collusion. Even though these channels maybe in one email, each channels has it own purposes. So if one brand channel unlucky got copystrike, it’s better to terminate that channel only and leave 49 channels alone because those channels didn’t do anything.

It looks like RU-vid has changed things up (like they always do). "Channel Managers" is no longer shown on the step it is shown here. You have to go to "Permissions" and from there I can only make my other email address the manager (or lesser permissions), NOT the owner. Any idea how to make me the owner now?

youtube changed it, you now have to go to youtube studio, settings at bottom left, and permissions is there. According to the comments here, when you set to be 'manager' you then have to wait 7 days before then setting to 'owner'
