Hi, I have the same Durango as you 2018. Did you ever have an issue with a hissing coming from the dash when you kick on the AC? It sounds like freon moving in the lines. I have cold air. I was thinking of an expansion valve or may be low on AC gas? Do you have any issues like this? I have about 90k miles. Thanks
@@johnforte5005 hey man , I have a 2018 Durango Gt mine was doing that , found out I had a leak in my condenser, the hissing is a indication that youre low on Freon and you might have a leak somewhere in your system
Thanks that grey button connection was the worse to work with I used large angled needle nose pliers. But everything she said now to wait for the check engine light to go away in a couple of days and I will be happier!!!
@@johnforte5005 My durango has the same issue its a 2015 limited and we've had this issue for about a year and barely have over 50k miles did your ac Lose cool too ?
BRAVO BRAVO!! I showed my wife as we just got this exact code. I guess I’ll be standing by and letting her give it a shot to give her confidence that women can do this type of work. THANK YOU FOR SUCH A CLEAR AND DETAILED TUTORIAL!
I watched 5 other videos before this one on how to change out the Purge hose, and yours is the ONLY one that showed how to remove the T-joint from its clip - the secret grey button on the back of the clip was the key!! Thank you thank you!!! You make awesome videos.
Easily the best tutorial I've seen. I had this issue on my Durango. Swapped the purge valve but then realized the purge hose was where the crack was. Waiting on the part to come in.
I like your explanation style. You take the time to show exactly where all the parts go and how the different connectors work. That info is very helpful when it came to taking stuff apart myself.
Perfect….. appreciate your explanation on getting the little grey clip pushed in to release the hose. That clip is a beating to push in. Thanks girl. 👏
Thank you! Very helpful - especially the explanation of how to remove the clips / fasteners for the hose. I typically lose patience and break them. Durango same as my 2018 Grand Cherokee.
Thank you so much! No other video showed how to take out the part anchoring the hose and the vent to the body, and I wasn't sure what I might be breaking. I also needed to know how to release the T connector after removing the red lock. Also the video overall was just great. Thanks again!
Want to say thank you. That T joint clip on the hose was giving a lot of problem, but successfully replaced it. All other videos were telling me to pull white clip out, thanks. 8:31 Very helpful
You made this job so easy for me on my wife’s Durango. Thanks for such a great vid! Wish all mechanics explained as good as you did! I did mine then went back and checked all the hose after I seen what u found so I had to take the engine cover off twice haha. Didn’t find any cracks. Hoping changing this part works if not my mechanic said try changing leak detector pump next.
killed it. you a a badass woman. just followed your video to fix my mom's. hated buying the same exact part though, doesn't look like it's reviced by mopar to last longer
Thanks for this video. I've got the 0455 and 0456 codes but my purge valve tested good. I didn't see anything wrong with the hose, but I'll take another look based on this video.
Thanks for the detailed description and vid.. shouldn't be much difference from 2018..Had O'reilly's order part for me yesterday, so picking up the new valve soon as I leave work. Many thank yous again, LuLu.
Instead of buying a new Mopar purge line, use an exacto blade and cut off the "shrink wrap" part of the plastic line. Then take about 2 inches of 15/32 PCV hose and connect both ends. Clear the code and you are done. My purge valve was fine so out of pocket cost was $1.19 for a foot of PCV hose.
Great video! I had the exact same cracked connection as yours but I couldn’t see the grey clip after removing the red and your video was a huge help getting my 2018 GC engine light free!
Thank you thank you THANK YOU!! My check engine light came on today and i went to Auto Zone which the code read P0456. They told me i can do it myself by going on RU-vid instead of dealership.
Like others I really appreciate the detailed video. It helped me a great deal as i too found the hose to be the culprit and requiring replacement. Dealing with that one clip and its gray push tap was the worst part. Pushing it in as you described did not work as mine was to be pulled out like the red clip below it. My application difference could have been why mine was different. 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Thanks again.
Awesome! Had I known my extended warranty wasn't going to cover the evap purge canister and hose, I would have changed it myself! Dealer charged me $260 for the diagnostic alone! I assume these parts fail often as I have a 2018 Durango with only 24,000 miles on it.
this video is awesome. not only did it help me find where all of the parts were I found a crack in my hose on the right side and not the bottom like yours. I taped it because it is late and I will more than likely find the part tomorrow. thanks for the help! #NewSubscriber
I had to expand that connecter at the T. I kept pushing but it wouldn't go in. Finally I just too my mini pick hooks and spread either side and it popped out. Did they change styles from '17 to '18?
Oh man; I’m sorry it’s taking a while. Thinking back, it did take me a while to figure out that I had to push in the gray button WHILE pulling out the T connection. Which was a pain, I used a flat head to do it. And while pushing the button I wiggles it out as it was dusty and stuck. I see it’s been a few hours since you commented, hope you’ve gotten it. Maybe try some wd40 so it slides out easier.
This video was on point with the crack on that purge hose. Once installed it took a couple of days for that check engine light to disappear!!! That grey push down connection was a b$&@&!!!!
Hello Lulu , perfect explanation..I have one question because i have also durango from 2017 3.6 pentastar..I have p0440 failure based on internet help it should be also leaking from evap do you think that change of evap purge could help ? Thanks for help
Sorry for the late reply. I hope you were able to clear up your issue. I wish I could answer your equation but I am no mechanic and don’t know everything about cars, so please if you’re still having problems, take it to a mechanic to double check.
Oh! Here it is!! It says it for a Ford, but it looks exactly like the one I have in my video. *buy at your discretion. www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-vapor-hose-retainer-clip-cv6z9a317d
For me, it took a day or two of driving around and then it turned off. I didn’t really notice how long it took or within how many miles or speed of driving. Great job fixing it tho. Hopefully it turns off for you soon.
Did you replace the whole assembly ? . I bought the one hose but didn’t know it was T’d in until after i got home..if so is that the part number for the whole assembly ??
That is the part number to the whole purge hose. it includes the T connection part. The only thing it didn't come with was that "stopper/plug" at the end. I'd recommend looking up the part number online and making sure it is what you need.
@@lulusuberville thank you.. the one hose i did order will be going back because it has 2 quick connects . One on each each end. And i dnt need a quick connect on the end that goes into the T
So, with the cracked hose repaired, or better yet replaced, there was no need for you to change the Purge Valve sensor. It did what it's supposed to do. Warn you of a leak of fuel vapors. After you got the error code you should have visually inspected the Purge Valve and its components before buying the Purge Valve assembly. a lot of times it's an easy fix if you know where to look first.
Quick question.. I just replaced the purge valve and hose. Do I need to reset the computer or do anything else so the check engine light goes off? Please help!
Way to go!! I’m sure there’s a way to reset but I just drove around and it reset itself after a day or two. The system needs time to register that there is no leak. Hope that helps! 🙂
@@lulusuberville thank you for responding! Also, your video was super helpful for me and my uncle today as we replaced both parts. The grey T clip was really hard to remove but as soon as that came off it was easy from there. 😀 I no longer have that ugly check engine light on my dash 👏🏼
Oh no!!! It’s called a Retainer Clip. I looked it up and could only find this website of where to buy. It says made for Ford, but it looks exactly likely the one I’m the video. I would look more into it; purchase at your discretion; here is the link. www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-vapor-hose-retainer-clip-cv6z9a317d
@@lulusuberville I was able to find is and get it from my car. Thank again! The dealership was going to charge me about 330$ to fix this and I did it for 35$ because of your video!!!
What were the symptoms prior, i was getting a musty scent (like fumes) in the cabin for a while dealer said was no problem then check engine light came on, brings up code for this part, I’ll change and update....did anyone else here experience the same symptoms? Frustrated.
Kudos to you! Great video. This error just came up on my Durango and while getting pointed to the Purge Valve part as the culprit was pretty easy. I wasn’t able to find where the heck it was located. Now I know! And also will check before buying said inexpensive part if the hose could be the real culprit. And now that I know how to tackle it all, it shouldn’t be more than a few hours to get this done. By the way, did the Check Engine light reset itself or did you have to get it cleared?
Glad to be of help. The purge valve costs around $18 at autozone. I also changed it just in case there was some internal issue with it that I couldn’t see. I’d recommend doing it as an extra measure. Also, there was no engine light code that I could find to turn off the light, so it took about 2 days of driving around and the light turned off by itself. Didn’t keep track of the exact miles or mph I had to drive. But I’m a busy mom with a business so I drive a lot. Hope that helps! And good luck!!🍀
@@huncho_los hi Carlos, I don’t recommend a quick fix of wrapping with electrical tape. I mean, it may do the trick for a while but you may end up with the same problem down the road as the tape starts to loosen or dry out. So for me, I would replace it with the new part and not have to worry about it.
You are amazing! Thank you for the video atleast I don’t have to go to a damn mechanic just to have it replaced. One more thing, after replacing the purge valve and everything, do you need to erase the code or the check engine light will go off automatically?
@@lulusuberville hey lulu i just found out that we have the same problem with the evap hose, it has a strip on it. Now i know which one needs to be replaced. Or better yet I’m gonna replace the whole set of it. Thanks again!
Hello lulu do you have any problem with your tailgate? I mean when you open it there is a chime on your tailgate door and mines was lost already. Any advice on it? Thanks!
