Should the ball joint rear stub fit snug against the control arm face? Does the pin sit snug too? I noticed the pin is not flush against the face in your clip.

Don't you have to support the lower control arm to prevent the coil spring from flying out?

Actually, with the sway bar still attached to that lower control arm it's not going to go anywhere.

Thank you for your comment! You are right, the mechanic made a mistake, you should use the same puller that was used for the top mount.

Are there torque specs for w202 ball joint nuts?

American cars and trucks I've worked on always had cotter pins through the ball joint stud as a safety measure, yet this car does not. Are there NO cases of the nut loosening up and falling away? I would've thought the technician could've at least torqued the nut properly with the aid of a torque adapter on the vertical stud. I'd feel very nervous about skipping that, with no cotter pin as a backup.
