There seems to be confusion about the proper fill volume. My '03 VT1100C2 has no center stand. The service manual clearly says, "Place the motorcycle on its side stand on a level surface." (page 3-14). I recently drained my hypoid gear, and collected about seven and a half ounces of old fluid. We shall see what it takes to fill it back up.
Hi. This was a very informative videoI have an 84 GL 1200, would this help me if I can't shift my bike into neutral? Thank you in advance for your help.
It’s a heavy weight gear oil, Od expect it to come out much slower than motor oil. I’d ride the bike to warm it up first to get it all to drain out better.
Thanks. Love my bike but let me ask you....does the tone of the engine m ake you tired or agitated at certain rpms or long rides. I guess I must have a tiny hex hole..I have to fine..i was wondering how I would suck oil up through my only apparent hole on my nighthawk.
Shawn Defeudis I honestly have never ridden this bike on a long ride. Not sure I understand your last question, but they make small hand pumps with small hose accessories that can be used to remove oil from cavities like a differential. You can find them at most auto parts stores.
