Definitely test the wires with a voltage tester (runs about $20) before touching them, even after turning off the electricity at the braker. SO often breakers get mislabeled, and with electricity it's better to be safe than sorry.
*Deep breath* I’m gonna do this! You make things look so easy. I want my home to look pretty, without paying someone else for every little repair or upgrade.
Thank you for sharing this tutorial, I’ve been so afraid to change the ugly lights in my restroom & kitchen for fear of getting fried! I’ll have to try this.
Girl you’re so talented just binged watch most of your shorts. I just want to give a big shout out to you because it takes a lot of mass patients and skills to do the work you’ve done around your house. You’re an inspiration to all of us moms that want to redo on the budget we can afford. Much love all the way from Arizona.
It's possible that the wires you reconnected aren't fully touching inside of your wire nuts. Recheck all of your connections and make sure you twist your wire nuts tight!
The ONLY thing i would add to this is make sure you are twisting the wire nuts until the wires coming out of it is twisted a couple times, it helps ensure that connection. An easy fun project that you can be proud of!!!
WAGO connectors are worth the investment. If your wire nuts are old or improperly used, you will need a pair of pliars to remove the metal coil from the wires, as it separated from the plastic.
Great job. It's great and encouraging to see another woman turning her home into her dream home. Especially when we're aiming to become billionaires. Amen 👏 👏
You should always use a non contact tester before touching any wiring even after turning it off at the breaker. Also the ground wires need to be wound under the green screw on the fixture to ensure the fixture itself doesn’t later shock people or cause sparks inside the box.
You will need to install one of those ceiling fan brackets. It’ll slide into the existing fixture hole and extend to tighten between the two studs. Highly recommend it otherwise the fan will fall while spinning.
