DIY guide on how to change the shift knob button on a Honda Civic AT with a broken gear shift button
The shift knob button on my automatic gear stick has been broken for quite sometime. Super glue did the trick at first but now it is totally shattered in pieces. There are plenty of aftermarket shift knobs you can choose from. But I prefer to keep mine stock as much as possible. I had difficulties finding just the AT shift knob button for Honda Civic 1996 VTi. When I came across this button for Honda Accord 1998-2000, I noticed there isn't that much of a difference. There's a bit of size and shape difference but with a little bit of modification, it can fit and be used for a Honda Civic 1996 VTi AT shift knob.
This video shows how to change your broken shift knob by replacing the button with a new one. You can fabricate from a 1998-2000 Honda Accord shift knob button (or possibly from other models that may also work) and use it to replace the broken gear shift button on your automatic Honda Civic 1996/1997/1998/1999/2000 VTi LXi EK EG ESi SiR. This can also be a guide on how to simply replace and install a new or aftermarket automatic shift knob.
