George Urbaszek of www.creativebas... shows you how to change strings on a 4-string bass guitar. This is a full tutorial with lots of tips along the way.
Yes, most bass bridges are string-through-tailpiece (not string-through-body). I briefly address the tailpiece at 17:50 in the video. Boiling strings does refresh them. I have tried boiling as well as cleaning strings with dish washing liquid* (as if you are cleaning dishes in relatively hot water) and both systems have the same result (for me). Of course you will have to take all strings off your bass to do this ;) * I prefer this method. Bass of Luck! George
+MetalheadYA Hello and thanks for your query. I love flatwounds and have tried most brands. My Fender P Bass has them on a permanent basis. Flats have their place in the bass sound. I love their old-school sound and their punch. My favorites (for a long time now) are Thomastik Jazz. This is because they feel quite loose (and are therefore easy to play) and have a good presence and punch (low mids). Let me know if you have any specific queries. Kind regards, George
