Great video. I rode home today in the rain on my Harley with my FOB hanging on my belt. Then later when I tried to use it to lock my car it wouldn't work. I watched your video, then took the back off the FOB and found it full of water and other crap. So I did what you said to do....dried it up first, then cleaned it, and now it works great. You're a life saver. Thanks! You made my day. By the way...I have a Nissan too and my FOB is exactly like the one you showed.
Thanks so much! I could tell on my own that both my key fobs had loose battery brackets that needed to be soldered, but the very few places I could find to do the repair were going to be approx $30 for each fob. After seeing your video, I feel confident enough to do the repair on my own with a soldering iron & electrical solder. Again, thank you! Great video! :)
Thank you so much for this educative video :) I got my remote working after following the steps mentioned in the video. Certainly saved $100 :) cancelled my appointment with dealer after watching this video which otherwise would have costed $92 for diagnosis. Once again very helpful video :)
Thanks for your video. It was very, very clear and easy to follow. But what I really needed to know was something that else that appeared in your video. I was replacing my 2004 Nissan Quest key fob remote case (they're unbelievably cheap on e.bay and mine came direct from China in about a week.) When I took the old one apart a little metal piece fell out and I had no idea where it had come from. I looked all over the web for info, videos, anything that would show where it was supposed to go. I finally saw it on your video, nestled under the battery. I put mine right where it was in your Quest fob and now I'm back in business! Thanks again.
Mine stopped working and I thought it was the battery... took it apart to find that it had come unsoldered on the battery holder like you said. Thanks!
Thank you so much! I was really frustrated when I accidentally dropped my remote under pouring rain. It didn't work even after changing batteries. Your method of using the sand paper was amazingly brilliant and efficient! My heart jumped for joy when I put in the batteries to only see the remote's light flashing! Haha! Thanks brother, much grattitude!
Great video! I was ready to trash my key fob and buy a new one but the contacts were just dirty like you showed. Once cleaned, it works perfectly again!
+AK Lawrence Nice video.. Great work done by the man who posted the video. Its very usefull to everyone . I tried it and get the nice result. you can check Corbandy Battery Blueprint Crusher
Thank you so much! My fob battery went out to my Nissan Altima 2006 two days ago, and I could not lock nor unlock my car, even my trunk release did not work. But with the help of this video, I followed the instructions and now my Nissan remote fob works again. Thank you again, very helpful information.
Thank you very much for your info, helped me fix my problem. Feels good knowing I fixed it & saved me some $$$. What helped was cleaning the inside the Nissan Keychain.
@MRagainstTHEodds - Its a CR2032 which is the most common remote battery on the market. Although every now and then you will find a remote that takes one that is slightly thinner.
Thanks for a clear and to the point video, Sad your camera rate was thrown off by the fluorescents.(yea I heard it was the first vid for the new camera)
@2Lazy2SignUp - Not just with taking it out. The program is stored on a chip inside a solid state chip inside the remote so you should have no worries. Sometimes though one will just lose its program and will have to be done again.
This was a very helpful, easy to follow video. I followed your directions and was able to clean the contacts on the remote for my 2005 Malibu. However, my unlock button continues to not work. Lock and trunk? Working, have always worked. Unlock? Not working. Could it be something inside the vehicle and not inside the fob? Thoughts?
@MrHenz07 - Your problem is actually pretty common and mentioned in the video. The remote WILL NOT lose its programming from simply changing the battery so keep that in mind. What's happened to yours is that the silver, springy, piece of metal that goes around the battery has come loose from the circuit board of the remote control. When you pulled the battery out, it probably finally came loose. You will have to take it back apart and solder the silver piece back to the board.Or put a shim in it
I have two remotes for my Mazda 6 that no longer work. I think I caused a shock in the one that I was using. Unfortunately, I don't have a soldering tool. It will cost 78.00 to replace each one, then another $40 to reprogram... I'm going to to try your suggestions first! Thank you!
I have a 2015 town and country looks like car remote battery keeps draining... underneath the battery there are 4 prongs I bent them up a little for better contact I hope this fixes it ..I will know in a couple weeks
very good, thanks. Mazda dealer wanted to charge me $120 to reprogram as you just taught us for free!!! But I did the reprogramming of my remote, with brand new battery, and it does not work on my 05 Mazda6. Perhaps my remote has gone bad. Any suggestion??
i have a 2005 pontiac grand am. it was working good not until i change the battery, it just not working after i did it. please tell me how to fix it thanks
Hi tyreeztt My sienna 04 remote is not working. I changed the batteries and reprogram it few times. I will lock the doors once and wouldn't do anything after that. please help
Thank you, cleaning the dirty button spots helped me control it a little more on a Blackhawk system car alarm, but do u know how to fully fix if it was in water by accident?
Not really sure what type of remote the blackhawk is. If it was completely flooded with water and the batteries still had juice in them, you might have more issues than just cleaning.
hello uploader.. need your help. i have a remote keyless entry for my 2005 pontiac grand am. after changing the battery it suddenly does not work.. how to fix it? thank
I have the exact same issue going on did you resolve the unlock functions? Even my remote start works just not the unlock. I was told I need a new fob but I can get it to unlock it its apart and I run my knife or metal over the unlock contacts. Thanks, Sean.
I have done all in the video but not able to reprogram my 2004 nissan quest remote. The buttons were working intermittently so I changed the battery recently (I also got a new battery on the vehicle about the same time). I tried to reprogram several times and it just wont work. Overall in good condition, only potential issue could be that the metal under the battery keeps falling off. Could that be an issue? I can send pictures...
I have a remote that wors fine, but it only works after I'm in the car and hold the remote against the signal antenna on the windshield. What's the problem? please help.
I was just about to buy a new remote for my Saturn (the Unlock button wouldn't work) when I found this video. I opened my key fob and there was oily grease all over the contacts. So I cleaned it up a bit and it seems to be working. However there is still a little bit of caked on grease around the unlock contact...how do I get this off without harming the contact? Thanks :) Sara
