Thanks for all your helpful videos , I'm shit at anything DIY , but you've inspired me to have a go and it's working most of the time and saving me money , I love em
Although self-evident, you should have mentioned that the bike needs to be upright, not on its kickstand. And once the gear oil is added, the rear wheel should be spun by hand to coat the gears and thus require a small top-up afterwards.
Hey brother we well I love ur videos with the bike and make stuff and doing stuff with motorcycle and I waiting on more videos from you brother so as soon you got a few mins to give us we are waiting hope ur in good health bro
I change my final drive oil with every rear wheel change. This also gives a chance to do all the other necessary gear lubricants at the same time. By the way, great video and I really like your channel. :)
This is very helpful thanks. Will be doing this. Love every detail you gave us. Im having an issue with 1st gear where it goes up to neutral. Any idea? Everything is stock 🤔
Wow! Exactly what I needed, is it too late to change oil when smoke is coming from the rear shaft housing? Just kidding, thank you for your as always good video bro, ride safe! ;)
MotorScotti Hey Scotti, thanks for watching the vid. As far as I know there isn't one on the diff because it has a breather cap on the unit. Cheers bro.
I just did the final gear oil change on mine today and it had a washer on the drain plug and on the filler plug. Same washer as on the engine oil drain plug. Did you buy yours new? Maybe the guy who changed it last time didn't care about putting new washers in. Anyway, ride safely and have fun!
changed the gear oil just gine. then thr gears ground up on a dhort time aftrr oil change. 46,500 miles. changed gear oil twice in the earlier mileage days with no problems. took it to yamaha dealer - paid $1100.00 for new rear gearbox and installment. now my rear head exhaust gasket is getting shipped .it will be the one for$16... not the $6 one i tried to jam into the manifold portal hole today.with no luck. because it was too big.
That should be exactly like my royal star right? I just bought a 1300 and i already did an oil change so tomorrow im doing my clutch bleed and break fluid aswell. Whats some top oils you use on your 1100? I use reds on my old bikes
I would recommend 2 types, you can pick up a 3/8-Inch and 1/2-Inch Beam Style Torque Wrench, 0-150-Feet Pound... by Tooluxe, you can find these on sale for fairly cheap. And also a 1/2 drive click type torque wrench, there a more expensive but if your going to remove the rear wheel it's great for torqing down the 22 mm axle nut. These wrenches go on sale often so wait for a good deal. Cheers🍻
burntsilverado here is a link that will explain it very well. Hope this helps you out, cheers! cruiser.mototribe.com/discuss/vstar-final-drive-breather-cap-leak
No i haven't had that happen. The only thing i can think of is it was over filled. Keep an eye on the oil level though you dont want it to get so low that it damages the gears. I have read that it could cause the rear end to lock up without oil. If it continues to leak i would take it in to a shop. Hopefully it was just over filled.
they didn't diagnoseit because i could hear the gravel sound coming from the gearbox so i knew what was in it and i just thought it was better to get it done right
I'm getting an 1100. It looks almost exactly like your bike but no skull carb cover. Yeah I saw your review on them. I know it's been up a while and didn't know if that has changed to anything better.
@@bernbo probably not. I'm thinking about getting a chopper kit for it though. Also going to put one of those easy oil filler extension kits on it. Definitely going to remove all the decals.
Sorry ahmed i don't really have a mailing address that I can give out, please don't take offence to this, but I really do appreciate the offer. Thank you Bro! Cheers!
Hey buddy, how you doing man? your probably out in your swimsuit checking out the old broads at the beach, flexing muscle, winking your eye at them saying "hey...take it ease saggy" hahahaha. hows the weather up there man? hot too? We making steaks out here bro...come down for a cold one too. Let them oldie broads alone hahaha. Cheers buddy
Doing good Tony, thanks for asking. It's been very hot last couple of weeks, we are going on 54 or 55 days of no rain now. Lots of BBQ here too. Stay safe out there. Takeiteass!
that oil definitely needed changing...great job man! now you can cruise for some old broads and saggies hahaha. My friend said the other day "hey man...why you always have an older hot broad?"...im like "not all them saggies like BINGO you fucktard" hahahaha. Cheers man..."take it ease"
Why is it 1/2 the videos show the bike tilted on the kick stand and 1/2 show it either level on a stand or the hub level in a vise when they fill it. Which is the correct way. Dealers too show it tilted on the kick stand, and nobody mentions which is the right way. Can make a big difference how much more it takes. And man you sure let this old get past due. Much be the original from factory?
