this is a video showing you how you can change the pitch fader on a technics SL 1200/1210 turntable.
just as an experiment I went to a audio repair shop to see how much they would charge for this and i got quoted 55 quid thats about 80 $ I think, considering that a new pitch fader cost 15 quid that's a rip-off so hopefully you should be able to watch this video and give it a go yourself, its not rocket science and doesn't require any special tools despite what the shop will have you believe.
WARNING ALWAYS UNPLUG THE TURNTABLE FROM THE MAINS BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY SERVICING OR REPAIRS INSIDE THE TURNTABLE.

Depending on the wattage of your soldering iron depends on how long you will have to hold the tip on the connection before the solder melts, for example a 10 to 20 watt soldering iron will take longer than say a 25 to 40 watt soldering iron.
