I would never move a wire or a bundle with vintage electronics like this. As an aircraft mechanic that works on 1960-1970's aircraft - any wire in place for decades degrades over time. More times then not the wire will break when disturbed. I would use air supply regulated to less than 20psi. This has shown great results and does not disturb components or electronics. Make sure to purge of moisture and you are good to go! Good video man!

NO, NO, NO. To remove platter push your thumbs down on the centre spindle while pulling platter up evenly with your fingers in the two holes. That way no damage will be caused. Tapping the spindle with anything will just damage the bearing.

Im kind of surprised your the only one who said this, doing this will damage your turntable

I’d agree. Two thumbs, pull with fingers. Tapping is asking for trouble.

Stumbled across this vid looking for how to fix MK2 stop start button and was stoked to find an Aussie especially in the same city as me and working on a deck from a dj I have had the pleasure of partying to back in the day. I have had my decks in storage for a while worked fine before storage but now one of them after storage turns on but just won't start, the button feels fine ie. Not sticky and was just wondering if you know any local service people that could fix it

I prefer to use a new paint brush and vacuum cleaner to remove the dust.

Hi lotex. I bought a brand new 1210 mk2. Unused. The issue is, the pitch oil is dry because its not been used. The pitch isnt like on my others. Its kinda sticky. Its callibrated ok, but very harsh compared. Do you know if there is a specific lubricant to use?

At 5:10 in the video I can see a lump on the plastic cover for the main board is that normal? My SL1200 MKII has the same lump and I don't know whether it is supposed to be like that or if it warped by the heat from two resistors under that spot R201 and R213 that reach 118F and 132F respectively is that supposed to happen?

i would reflow the solderjoints and clean the it and respray it and replace older capacitors and resistors

you have to replace the elco capacitors on these old units, don't wait till they blow, it won't cost a lot, also replace does shitty rca cables for better ones

good evening, when he raised the motherboard of the motor I saw that there are some light brown capacitors. i noticed the same capacitors on my 1210 mk2s as well but looking at other specimens i noticed that there aren't any. do you know the reason for the presence of these capacitors only on some turntables?

Doesn’t anyone know the components necessary for a working motor, platter and pitch control? No need for tonearm or any audio cables
