This is a relatively easy install. Took about 30 minutes (I have done it three times total) and shouldn't take you more than 45 minutes if you follow the instructions.
You will need:
- 8mm socket
- 10 mm deep socket
- 3/8" drive
- 5/8 Spark Plug socket
- Extension
- Swivel extension
- Anti-seise
- Dielectric grease
OEM Spark Plug part numberL SP-550 they should come pre-gapped.

Thanks for your detailed instructions. Every time I change my spark plugs I watch your video. Easy Peasy ✌🏾

Great video and very helpful! I’m doing mine tomorrow and this was a great way to show just how simple it is. Thank god for that too as I know some vehicles can be a nightmare for plug replacements. Thanks!

Hey, thank you very much for the video. I changed mine today for the first time at 70,000. Followed your perfect instructions, took me about 45 minutes. If I do it again I’ll do it in half the time. I’m 6’4 and still need a step ladder for the back 2. Truck had a rough idle and it solved the problem instantly. Thanks again!!!

Do you know what the part number is for those rubber tabs in the back of the engine cover?

Why did you go back to stock plug? Were you using the SP-542?

Great video question the sp550 come with a gap of 0.31 is that ok for a stock 2018 raptor?
@kinosgarage
@kinosgarage 3 года назад
It varies from .031-.034. Unless you have a proper tool to gap those plugs, I would not mess with them. Ford did away with the SP550 and went with an even hotter plug now.

How often should you change your plugs?? I have 56,000 should I change them
@kinosgarage
@kinosgarage 2 года назад
I changed mine every 12k miles. You can go longer if you stay with the stock ones but 57k miles is too long. Depending on the plug itself and the engine they are designed for, some manufacturers recommend you changing them every two years or 24k miles if not driven hard. Many Raptor owners (ecoboost) saw improvement in performance and better-smoother idling from replacing their plugs. The job takes about 30 min max.

How often should the Ignition Coil be changed? and the spark plugs?
@kinosgarage
@kinosgarage Год назад
Cool packs shouldn’t be replaced unless they have gone bad. I would do the plugs every 36-40k miles.

So the Gen3 cover fits the Gen2 just fine?

Anyone know if that 2019 engine cover will fit the 2018? It looks so much better and I need to replace mine.

Is this the same for a 2019? Dealership just quoted me $700 to change the plugs. Said 5 hours labor plus parts.

Yes, it is the same.

And I thought MY DEALER was screwing me over - they quoted $486 to change the 6 plugs and boots. I found this video and my 9 year old son is helping me change them as I type this. Currently researching the anti-seize in the comments. I worried about getting it into the recessed hole, not this time, but NEXT time I change plugs because it will be on the threads inside the cavity and the NEXT plug I drop in could theoretically pick some of it up on the tip as I insert it. However after removing the old plug and seeing how dirty it was I'm no longer concerned, because that dirt was in there too. Likely a non-issue. My son and I are going to start a RU-vid channel focused on doing things we've got no experience in, following other instructional videos -hopefully showing how easy some of this stuff is. Which is why we want to capture our FIRST time doing it on video. So far, we've had to stop because I don't have a 3/8" swivel. So I'm going to need to go to the parts store and buy one. Also, my spark plugs were super squeaking sounding as I was removing them. The force I needed to free it up too was way more than I expected and it took like what seemed forever to unscrew it completely. Was tight the entire way almost - though looking at the threads and the length of them I now see why.

@@RichardTurlington 5 hours hahaha, 2019 Raptor here: I just did mine for the first and I'm not an advanced mechanic. Firs time I ever did it. Even took that last step with a torque wrench per the video. Just like the video said, I did it in 45 minutes taking my time. Couldn't be easier

Removed it a couple of months after I did this video. It clogged (there might be other better ones) but most people who had them had nothing but issues. I would not recommend out one on, personally.

You CANNOT use dielectric grease or antiseize on the spark plugs. I followed this video and now I've been chasing a shit ton of misfires.
@kinosgarage
@kinosgarage 4 года назад
your are very mis-informed. You CAN use it, just don't put a pound on it. Even the ford engineer I visited with said to use some along with two other mechanical engineers, an engine builder and my tuner. You are getting misfires due to other issues with your truck. Probably running a ton of boost of the wrong plug. I am running the new ford perf one degree colder plugs that replaced the SP542's. I have 36k hard miles with half of them on the trails doing testing and had zero issues. (aside of running a tune with high boost that I no longer use). follow me on my other channel where I did 50+ new vids.
