Hey seems like you know alot. Question? I have a 2008 dodge avenger never had any shifting problem then all of a sudden while was driving I felt a hard shift and my car slowly came to a stop. Engine still running but nothing else. Put car in drive, reverse 1,2,3 and gave gas and car would not move at all. Automatic. Please please help !!!!!!!!!!

the pressure solenoid and transducer is not always the reason the trans does not shift, failure of the low one way clutch is also very common which removal of the trans is required and a overhaul, not every trans shop is out to rip people off . A clogged transmission cooler is the reason that it fails do to the lack of lubrication

@@Larry-rr6ko you know, our trucks suffer from grounding issues-especially on the negative cable that attaches to the passenger side batter. There’s this (what looks like) bus fuse that needs to be removed and reconnect that cable. I believe I have a video on this. At any rate its a design flaw and effects the tranny.

I want to think positive. Though I have never performed this fix on a Neon. If your Neon has the same symptoms, then that’s a good sign!!

Did you figure out code P0935?

Jaymark Dacpano seemingly your issue is loss of pressure until the tranny builds it up-warming up.

I use to go to neutral after I started up my truck . That was to charge the convertor . After sitting for a while the convertor drains to pan in my truck ..Also I never let my truck idle for long periods of time in park . I went to neutral because of the way the manual valve was made .

It does. Every now and then It'll start out fine but I'll feel it slip while in first. Going through the gears manually, it'll work just fine.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news, that's the only symptom (slipage) that kills the idea of remedying your transmission problem with the kit described in this video. sorry i couldn't have been more help.

Loola Bloom the symptoms you describe sounds like you got hope in repairing this yourself as I did with the kit mentioned in this video (but a kit for your exact tranny).

sounds like you need a linkage adjustment. might want to talk to someone that is an old-school mechanic and see if you can ask him if he can adjust the linkage.

Did you find out what was wrong with your car? I have the same probelm...

OK, done, just put pan on and fill, my mag washer had a lot of very fine black gunk, some shiny, nothing in pan like pieces. I tow a heavy trailer, I need to change more often, the fluid was the orange color with a sweet smell, far from black, but was ready for a change. Thanks again, will let you know how it drives!

Anytime you are experiencing a "slip" the fix in this video unfortunately will notbe of any help. When gears slip versus not engaging in gear are two different symptoms; The latter deals with electronics (solenoids).

As long as it doesn’t slide, this is an easy fix.

PURGATORY.domkram TO THE BEST IF MY KNOWLEDGE...YES. I HONESTLY DO NOT KNOW IF ANY OTHER WAY OF DOING IT!!! So yes, replenish that transmission fluid through the that tube. Take care and good luck.

Alex Reynoso I wish my answer is yes go ahead and change them and they will help but by my experience anytime you experience slippage it's a problem that requires the transmission to be overhauled.

IF IT HAS THE SAME TYPE OF SENSORS I WOULD HAVE TO SAY, YES.

Definitely fix that bad boy

check your transmission oil cooler for the over temp

Basically if you have to run the truck for 5-10 minutes before it will properly shift usually from 2nd to 3rd

Also you have to let the tranny warm up before it works better and shifts smoothly. You’ll find you’ll be stuck in 2nd until you’ve driven like 1km then it should shift

Not sure on 4th gen trucks. But sounds like you have a shot a changing the solenoids given the symptoms are the same. Sorry I can’t be any more help.

@@conquryourfear ok i looked into it further and i do plan to change the sensor and solenoid both. Its probably just one but when i have the pan off might as well do both. Small parts so ill probably get them off rockauto. Thx for the help! Ratchets and wrenches has a good video also on this

Not sure. But does your tranny have the same symptoms? I would guess that if so, and you’re not talking about slippage, I would lean towards saying you have a shot.

Look. It's a possibility. To change out these senors is a lot cheaper than the alternative. In your instance, the problems you described, your ECU ""may"" be acting up. The thing is, you don't have a real-time temperature gauge to get an accurate transmission temp. At any rate, do keep us all up to date on the status of your attempts in resolving this issue. Thanks. Have you put a scanner on that vehicle and checked the mass airflow sensor. I once had that same symptom and the airbox which the mass flow air sensor was hooked up to was faulty

@@conquryourfear no I have not I was getting ready to have a transmission garage look at it to see if there was a bad sensor the tranny is too good to need rebuilt I think

@@timgoble9891 I once had a vehicle where they change the airbox to an aftermarket one. And they did not connect the mass airflow sensor to it. It was hitting the gears really hard. When I bought the vehicle I change the box plugged in the mass airflow sensor and it ran perfect

I can relate to this. 01 Durango 5.9 rt as well. I've had a shop rebuild mine but now it's over two years ago and it's starting to act funny. slipping like it's getting confused going from 2nd into 3rd. clunking too, like it's late. the warranty is up of course, so I'm wondering if I should try replacing the selenoid switch..

what's your alternative? A new (rebuilt) costly tranny? brother, it is worth the try.

I run the transs low on fluid for 30 miles and start doing same problem again! Do i damage the new sensor ?? (Truck doesn't go back to first gear it starts from second gear all the time)

kajus001 for whatever reason, reverse went out. True story. They only link is the connecting rod cable that connects to the tranny. Try the fuses and relays. Get back to me

It can..Just scan for codes after trying to drive it.

It will be almost the same except the parts will look a bit different. The side electronic actuator is a second solinoid that looks almost identical to the pressure solinoid in the video here. I did mine on my 01 1500 pickup.

Senecia Capleton I wouldn’t know that Answer brother. If one solenoid is bad and there’s only two or three I would change them all. This way I don’t have to go back into the transmission again.

If your transmission is acting up (not starting in first gear, skipping a gear, won't go into overdrive) and not "slipping" (if she is slipping that is a bad thing) then maybe yes, but buy the right kit appropriate for your year Ram.
