I'm at 190,000 miles and I show the torque specs on the oil filter and drain plug. I also cover what oil I have been using for the past 15 years in my VQ35DE REVUP and used oil analysis reports.
I love RU-vid and decided instead of consuming, I wanted to start creating! So please subscribe and I'll do my best to create the most entertaining and helpful videos possible for the G35.

I have a 2012 G37, and I like the M-110 Mobil 1 filter. It’s larger than the M-108 that the factory spec says by about an inch in length, and is the oil filter they use on the Nissan/Infiniti v8’s - so more filter material and bigger capacity.

Glad to see you didnt pre fill, 1. it would go everywhere and 2. people seem to put the entire lot of the engines oil cpaacity in even when filling the filter which means theres too much in there.

I replaced the factory underbody shield with an aftermarket one. It only needs two bolts loosened to get full access to the oil pan and filter. Best money I've spent on my G.

I heard shell Rotella 5w 40 was really good oil for VQ engines because they help keep oil temperatures low cause VQ's usually run very hot!!!

Castrol Edge is the same price as Royal Purple, AMSOIL Signature, and REDLINE which are Group 4/5 (real synthetic). Edge is only a Group 3, as is Mobil 1 and Penzoil Platinum.

@@jxrioss21 check it every 100 miles for a bit you'll probably need to add some most burn a little bit, some burn a lot

I've been using valvoline 20w-50 ever since I got my motor rebuilt not sure why but thats what the mechanic recommended. might have to try that oil analysis thing

Never tighten you oil filter with a wrench. hand tight is more than enough

No drain plug crush gasket, I went to my local Infiniti and they sell them .50 / piece. Good vid though thanks.

Same as Costco Kirkland, MAG 1 and Amazon Basics. Group 3. Made by Warren. Just as good as Mobil 1. Also a Group 3. Mobil 1, Castrol Edge and Pennzoil Platinum are overpriced Group 3. Almost as much as a real synthetic Group 4. Buy the Kirkland- on sale less than $3.00 a quart in the 10 pack. All these oils are SN+. Why pay more?

I don't cheap out on a few bucks for better oil. Mobil 1, Pennzoil, Castrol, Havoline, and if it's on sale I'll buy Shell's Rotella or T6.

Hey motordyne, do you think the g35 coupes are an old car now? I don't know a ton about cars, was wondering if they'd need a lot of work for 80ish k miles because they are 15 year old cars?

Do i need to put a new washer on the drain plug everytime i change my oil? I didnt see if yours had one

What’s up motordyne I’m having an issues with my G35 it goes into limp mode and it sometimes will stay in limp and sometimes it acts normal . I need help pls !!

You know they make filter cups with 3/8th insert so you can torque your filter like the dealerships, and I know oil filters are usually just filters but k&n are honestly not that great, gotta go with the true Wix for that never dry start reliability

Yes. Look at your dipstick, it never lies. 5qt shows full and I am at 190,000 miles

Depending on temperature where you live I would recommend against this. Even says in the pen manuals not to. It will affect the clearance of the main rod bearings

@@Ocean240sx anything below -18 degrees not use 5w40 or 10w30 it says that in the owner's manual they don't say 5w40 they said 10w40 to be more clear
