Btw the rear differential torque spec is 36 ft-lb not 27 ft-lb. 27ft-lb is only for the transmission. I did 27ft-lb for the diff and now I have to lift the car up again to get the torque to 36 ft-lb. Please put an annotation in the video so others won't make the same mistake as me.
@awowoosas
@awowoosas 7 лет назад
Also it's not necessary to remove the metal skid plate. You only need to remove the 10 millimeter bolts to take off the soft black part right under the transmission itself.

Motul 300 75w-90 LS for the rear diff!!! Motul 300 75w-90 for the transmission. I could be wrong;, but I've never put regular gear oil in a limited slip or put oil with a friction modifier in the trans. Now with open diffs you can use regular gear oil.
@Moutarde_Chou
@Moutarde_Chou 7 лет назад
86 and BRZ have torsen gear diff, not clutch type lsd. It doesn't require friction modifier like a clutch type does. You can use regular gear oil in a torsen like in an open diff.
@alexanderzamora8827

tonyzase you say it does not require the friction modifier, but would the friction modifier help with the differential life?
@Moutarde_Chou
@Moutarde_Chou 6 лет назад
I don't think there is going to be a difference in longevity between the two oil. But i think that friction modifiers can change the torque biasing of the diff. Running a thicker or a thinner oil grade will also do. I personally would put the same oil in trans and diff and save money over buying two differents oil.

@@quarkymatter ATF is Automatic Transmission Fluid. Lol gear oil is for manual trans and differential. I used motul 300 ATF for my auto trans FRS and motul 300 75w90 gear oil for the differential.

@@oof578 exactly why I was confused because I told the guy I needed transmission fluid for my automatic BRZ and he still gave me gear oil. It was a close call lol
