My uncle helped me do this and it took us about 4 hours for our first time + lsd change . This is definitely harder than it seems when you don’t have a lift lol.

This shit took me 3 and half hours to do. I don’t have a lift. I was under with jack stands. I have never done this before. I had the Subaru bottles with a fluid liquid pump. I’m paranoid I filled it too much idk it’s 330am.

I know it has been over a year, but you cannot overfill as long as you are on a relatively level setup. Hope all went well and you are doing well!

I just changed my transmission fluid and it took more than the stated 2.2L (around 2.4L) before it started dripping back out. Is that normal?

Is it the same process for an automatic? I'm really confused between some people just draining and filling while other put in some new oil. then do maneuvers with the shifter, then fill more new etc?

Kevin I have an automatic FRS would it be just the same or is it different? I was told a machine would be required to siphon out the old fluid and the machine would also be used to fill it as well… can you help me get the correct steps?

On my 22 BRZ, I filled up my transmission fluid according to owner's manual (2.3qts) but I never have fluid spill out. Does that mean I'm underfilled?

No, you don't need to use Motul. I just use it because it's accessible to me and high quality stuff. You can use other brands like Redline, Valvoline, etc. as well.

I used motul 75w90. Just look up the part numbers to the gaskets on forums and go to either Toyota or Subaru to pick them up.

Is there anything in the way if doing the fluid change? Or is it easily accessible once you're under the car?

Yes. There are 2 metal plates you will have to remove. Buy gear oil with a spout. The hardest part was trying to pump the oil into the trans because there isn’t a lot of room to do so.

There's not a way to unfortunately since there's no dipstick. You just gotta go by age, mileage, and/or shifter feel

Good question! For your automatic you would actually be using a different fluid compared to my manual transmission. You'll want to get an approved ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) for your transmission.

@Kevin Vo ok thats good. Im having real dramas with my twin disc clutch making strange noises. Shop said its a faulty throw out bearing. Its only been on the car for three weeks WTF
