Great question.. the only symptom was the noise... to experience vibration and alignment issue would mean the bearing is severely worn out.. if you jack the wheel up you'd most likely be able to shake it quite a bit.

@@UncleTinman Wrap a big pry bar with a cloth towel then stick it between the wheel lugs then torque it down with a torque wrench. If you turn the steering wheel all the way you should be able to make room for the torque wrench once the hub is back on the car. Torque spec is 107 ft lb. Do you still have the car or was this a customer? Do they have any issues?

@@UncleTinman yes you are right . Could you please tell me the exact bearing measures in metric please. Have bought some Stark bearings but they were 72 in diameter meanwhile the originals were 70.. many thanks

If you tap the hub with a hammer.. it'll close up enough for you to thread on a nut to close it up.

It's a valid point. Sometimes it's not within the budget. Fortunately for this ball joint it doesn't take as much work as some other ones... ie.. Honda Accord where the axle would need to be removed.

@@UncleTinman Not too bad at all! Don't need a press for the lower ball joints either. Took me about a day my first time ever doing them.

@@UncleTinman Driven about 1000 miles on them, and they seem good! Gonna do one last bolt check and inspection this weekend when I do the outer tie rod ends. It was certainly a project, but love this car too much, definitely worth

@@UncleTinman I was trying to source locally to avoid shipping time since the new bearing is already pressed in. But if you look closely there is two different types of seals for the front they look the same but they’re different. The one I keep finding locally is the smaller one. Thank you

Not sure what kind of whistle... but it's possible that the rotors are warped. I'd suggest getting your car inspected by a qualified shop.

thanks for your feedback. Guess your mechanic's diagnosis was correct. Fortunately it didn't get too bad. Time to get it replaced.

@@UncleTinman I didn’t drive it too long , I left it parked in a parking lot and he drove by that same day checked it out with out me but he says that all the suspension parts appear to be fine including the bearing. Ofc he said it was going out but he didn’t associate the smoke directly with the bearing. I personally don’t what else it could be since I’ve pratically have had the whole front suspension rebuilt including brakes pads and calipers. I personally think it’s just now starting to go out and maybe that’s what it was? Like metal to metal or perhaps the grease catching on fire.

@@UncleTinman but if it is that then I should be good , I went full OEM on both hub and bearing. Figured I’d get them both replaced.

I believe they're the same car. You can try and cross reference the part number on rockauto.com

I've had it for years. You can get them from automotive tool suppliers. If you're in the US. Harbor freight should carry them. If you're looking to rent I believe Pep Boys might have then available as well.

This design is quite intricate.. Bolt on hub is definitely much easier to work on.
